cellphone snatchers...

guys warning lang po... a close friend of mine got her cellphone snatched inside national bookstore at sm san lazaro... the story goes like this... she was going around national bookstore to look for materials to use in her scrapbook and novel. as she was going around, a man walked beside her and she was held close with the use of a knife... the guy asked for her cellphone (which she gave) and then the guy walked casually out of the bookstore... now, masakit na nga na nawalan na sya ng cellphone and mas masakit ay nung tumakbo sya papunta sa guard to ask help... what the guard did was disturbing... nung sinabi niya na naholdap sya at tinuro yung guy na kumuha ng phone, ang sabi ng guard sa kanya, "miss kailangan ko na witness bago ko hulihin yung lalaki...." helloooo.... diba ang nagrereport na nga yung nakuhanan ng phone.. after, kahit na sinabihan na yung guard na sya yung kinuhanan, wala daw ginawa yung guard ng bookstore... so guys, ingat lang po kasi kahit mga guard walang kwenta din minsan... display lang sila for some shops...

wow talaga, inside the mall, inside national bookstore pa?? If i were her, i'd talk to the mall head of mall security, n to the manager of National Bookstore, n to the manager of the mall, n ask them why that incident happened n was allowed to happen, especially when the guard could of done somethin. That guard has no use being in the store, i would fire his ass.

I think she was too shocked to shout, imagine a knife pointed at you... but whatever happened to mall security? tsk tsk. Minsan tamad na mag frisk yung mga guard, dapat SOP na yan terrorist threat or not.

Even if the guards do frisk you, probably half of them have no idea what they're looking for. Na-test na yan nung minsang may nagdala ng mga actual bomb components sa mall. Hindi man lang na-detect ng mga guards. And it was shown on national TV.

baka naman kasabwat ung guard kaya malakas loob nung holdaper. kung sa loob ng mall pwedeng-pwede ka na sumigaw pag na hold-up ka kasi ang daming tao don saka may mga guards sa bawat store. kung sa national bago makalabas un siguradong may madadaanan siyang guard. tsk tsk

actually, gusto ko sana iconfront yung head ng mall security about the incident kaso pinigilan lang ako nung friend ko... nabibwisit din kasi ako sa naging reaction nung guard... ipasa-diyos ko nalang daw yung kumuha ng phone and yung guard...

Mas malaki ang chance mong maka-depensa kung nasa loob ng mall ka. Mag-iskandalo ka lang. Create a scene. Sumigaw ka ng sobrang lakas. A mall is an enclosed facility, kapag tumakbo yung suspect mas lalo siyang mapapansin at mahuhuli. Kung bobo man yung security guard ng National Bookstore, malamang maba-block yung suspect palabas nung mall. SM pa yan right?

If this story is true, hindi ko maisip kung ano ang strategy nung snatcher. Lahat ba ng biktima sa loob mismo ng SM MALLS hindi niya ine-expect na mag-iskandalo lalo na kung babae? Kung ganon pala pwede mong hipuan yung mga babae sa loob ng malls at makakapuslit ka.

IMO, you should have reported the incident to the police para maimbestigahan. tapos at least padalhan nyo ng kopya ng blotter ang NBS at SM for their guidance and action kung ayaw nyong magreklamo sa kanila.

BTW, anong unit ng cellphone ang naholdup?

thanks for the warning... grabe naman... kakaibang security naman meron yung national bookstore na yun. Buti cellphone lang hiningi...at nde yung buong bag or wallet.

Eto naman bag snatcher: friend ng misis ko nakaladkad ng naka-motor pag-snatch ng bag nya. Siguro di nabitawan agad or instinct to hold on. Ayun may fracture sa shoulder bone or some area near it...

Yes, naikwento sa akin ito ng kaibigan ko. Ipinasok nila yung bomb ingredients by parts. Ipinapakita pa nga nila sa harap ng guard pero hindi napapansin.

Ang natatawa ko ay yung kwento ng pinsan ko. Marami silang magkakabarkada sa mall tas yung isa nilang kabarkada napansin na lang yung isang babae nakapasok yung kamay sa bulsa ng pantalon. Kinukuha ata yung cellphone pero syempre ndi yun nakaporma dahil siguradong kukuyugin yung babae.

Somewhat OT:

The bagchecking at the door thing is a futile (not to mention highly impractical) exercise. Most of the time, the guards couldn't be bothered to check properly. And if they DO check, they wouldn't know what a bomb is.

Heck, there was one time me and my dad went to SM Makati to repair/exchange a broken electric fan under warranty. They asked me to open my small backpack, but they explicitly let the bigass box dad was carrying through without checking. Of course there's an electric fan in there, but we could have been carrying a mini-nuke too.
