We were crossing ADB Ave. from Podium on the pedestrian lane, with my 10 month old baby in my arms.

We made sure that all the oncoming vehicles were coming from a distance before stepping onto the pavement. The car on the middle lane stopped, this cabbie was on the outermost lane droning for passengers, decided to gun it and nearly clipped us,

He got the finger as he traversed. Seeing as he probably wanted a medal for driving so recklessly, he backed up in his cab, and decided to arm himself with a pipe (note the makeshift strap) and tried to pick a fight.

Handed our daughter to my wife and the yaya. Decided to document the incident.

Seeing as he held a weapon he decided to shove his way around me, he was warned twice.

Long and short of it, a scuffle ensues, he swings his pipe, but was eventually disarmed. I invited him to go to the Ortigas Center Security office, he refused.

So he spends the next 10 minutes where we were before we crossed and he had to be escorted by security to the police station.

As a rejoinder, the operator was rather pro-active about this matter. I received a call from them earlier this day and they claimed that they have suspended their driver and will decide on terminating his tenure shortly after their investigation.

Frankly, I am somewhat embarrassed if not guilty to feel that pounding the prick into a new calendar cycle was the right thing. I am thankful not to have done so but am severely amused at the notion of reworking his digestive process.

Though I wonder why after all this progress and education that the instinct to protect one's family is just overwhelming.

Then again I think it perverse that the son of a bitch thought it would be more moral to bring out a pipe against a guy who was carrying an infant for being given the finger for being a prick on the road.

Its really easy to just lose control and pummel the guy to next Tuesday. But my priority was disarming him. He flew a few feet when he tried to push me for the 3rd time.

My wife's going to give me the 3rd degree about it sooner or later, in retrospect I could have de-escalated the matter, but when he stepped out of the cab with that pipe instinct kicked in.

While at the police station he was all gung ho, he will file charges, and eventually started doing the accounting, he confesses to doing everything wrong and just losing his temper. The good that will do the world.

We didn't sign an amicable settlement, we will be meeting with his operator to pursue further action.

They should justly remove the thug from their roster.

He had to be escorted to the station because he kept insisting he was right. That somehow being given the finger supersedes the morality of endangering my family.
