Once I had my car brought to a shop at West Avenue for a small checkup. The mechanic there told me that it was time for me to have my "electronic servo" cleaned because, based on the sound of the engine, it needed cleaning. He was charging me 2000 pesos for the procedure which he says will take about an hour to do. I decided to decline, intending to ask for a second opinion at a Honda Casa first.

The next day, I called up Honda Quezon Avenue and was able to talk to a mechanic. I was told that the procedure would cost around 2000 pesos (labor + replacement parts), same as the rate I was given by the previous mechanic. The long and short of it was, I decided to bring my car to the Casa, mainly due to the fact that the price is the same with that of the non-product expert.

I brought my car there on a Saturday, and endured the long wait until I was finally able to talk to a receptionist. I told her what my mechanic told me, including his diagnosis. However, she explained that despite my explanation, they still had to check the car and do a diagnosis beforehand. I agreed.

Two days later, I rang up the Casa to check on my car. I was able to connect to the receptionist who entertained me who then told me that I had the following problems:

    1. I needed to change my spark plugs - worth 120 pesos each
    2. I needed to change my air filter - worth 800 pesos
    3. I needed to have my servo fixed - worth 300 for a replacement part
    4. I needed to have my RACV (a valve) changed - worth 7000 pesos
    5. Labor - 2500 pesos
    6. Diagnosis - 450 pesos

However, I told her, I just changed oil a few weeks ago. I also changed all of my spark plugs and air filter along with it. I also told her that the previous mechanic (the non-honda one) told me that all I needed was a cleaning. Then I asked her if I could talk to the diagnosing mechanic (of Honda) so I could check if there are other remedies which could be made, before a replacement is made (if all else fails). I was bluntly told that there were no remedies which could be made and that replacement is inevitable. I was also told that I am not allowed to talk to the mechanic who "diagnosed" my car. I looked at several threads on our forum and found out that, yes, I could do a cleaning first or a check on the adjustments because, that could be done, and it might work. And I might save a lot of money on that.

Based on that, I decided to pull out my car and bring it to another Casa. I really felt something was fishy mainly because they were trying to replace my perfecly new sparkplugs and air filters. They were also trying to replace a very expensive part without providing me enough convincing information as to WHY i should replace it and not fix it.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Well, they tried, if you bit then its added income for them. Try going to Speedyfix or Speedlab for an assessment. Speedlab is near Honda Q. AVe.

Thus your unit still covers with warranty? if not then don't try to bring your unit to casa because they will surely charge you more...This is normal to all the casa not only to honda but other casa as well...

You should be aware that most casa mechanic don't properly diagnose what the real problem would be...kahit yong buong pyesa sasabihin nila sira at dapat palitan...It happens to me before...

May konting tunog sa makina na tila may sumasayad, pag dala ko sa kasa as per diagnose nila eh kelangan daw baklasin yong fuel tank dahil baka daw puro latak at nahihirapan dumaloy pauntang carburator... due to my doubt, pina check ko muna sa ibang talyer...kamukat mukat eh ang timing belt pala ang nag cause ng ingay dahil malapit ng mapatid at sumasayad na yong kalahating naputol sa makina pag umiikot...

That has always been the problem with the CASA, mapa-Honda , Toyota, Nissan, etc... man yan. Blood suckers sila!

Hindi naman ako magtitipid kung safety or engine issues are on the line... Ang gusto ko lang naman is to KNOW why im spending so much and if its worth it...

After ondoy we had our van fixed at a Nissan casa. Inayawan kasi ng Speedyfix so we had no choice. P75k for "calibration." After calibration, may sira pa daw ang alternator and blower ng aircon. Cost of new alternator is P50k+ another P50k for the blower + labor! So pinull-out ko alternator and had it fixed sa mga neighborhood repair shop. Cost of repair=2.5k.

It's right across Pegasus. Its a known tuner shop and they do general repairs and they will give you a honest assessment; same goes with Speedyfix.
