Once I had my car brought to a shop at West Avenue for a small checkup. The mechanic there told me that it was time for me to have my "electronic servo" cleaned because, based on the sound of the engine, it needed cleaning. He was charging me 2000 pesos for the procedure which he says will take about an hour to do. I decided to decline, intending to ask for a second opinion at a Honda Casa first.

The next day, I called up Honda Quezon Avenue and was able to talk to a mechanic. I was told that the procedure would cost around 2000 pesos (labor + replacement parts), same as the rate I was given by the previous mechanic. The long and short of it was, I decided to bring my car to the Casa, mainly due to the fact that the price is the same with that of the non-product expert.

I brought my car there on a Saturday, and endured the long wait until I was finally able to talk to a receptionist. I told her what my mechanic told me, including his diagnosis. However, she explained that despite my explanation, they still had to check the car and do a diagnosis beforehand. I agreed.

Two days later, I rang up the Casa to check on my car. I was able to connect to the receptionist who entertained me who then told me that I had the following problems:

1. I needed to change my spark plugs - worth 120 pesos each
2. I needed to change my air filter - worth 800 pesos
3. I needed to have my servo fixed - worth 300 for a replacement part
4. I needed to have my RACV (a valve) changed - worth 7000 pesos
5. Labor - 2500 pesos
6. Diagnosis - 450 pesos

However, I told her, I just changed oil a few weeks ago. I also changed all of my spark plugs and air filter along with it. I also told her that the previous mechanic (the non-honda one) told me that all I needed was a cleaning. Then I asked her if I could talk to the diagnosing mechanic (of Honda) so I could check if there are other remedies which could be made, before a replacement is made (if all else fails). I was bluntly told that there were no remedies which could be made and that replacement is inevitable. I was also told that I am not allowed to talk to the mechanic who "diagnosed" my car. I looked at several threads on our forum and found out that, yes, I could do a cleaning first or a check on the adjustments because, that could be done, and it might work. And I might save a lot of money on that.

Based on that, I decided to pull out my car and bring it to another Casa. I really felt something was fishy mainly because they were trying to replace my perfecly new sparkplugs and air filters. They were also trying to replace a very expensive part without providing me enough convincing information as to WHY i should replace it and not fix it.

Ano sa tingin nyo mga fellow tsikoteers? Tama lang ba yung proseso nila o mukha bang may racket na nangyayari dito? Meron na po bang nagkaron ng similar experience sa Casa na ito?

Thanks in advance for your replies.
