mga sir ask ko lang po paano mo masasabi na that you comitted a violation of "beating the light/ beating the red light"???

kasi sir as far as i know beating the light eh yung pagtumawid or or dumeretso ka pa kahit na red light na or yellow na yung traffic light.. tama po ba?

what if green light pa pero traffic is moving slowly (NOT a stop and go traffic) pero dahil sa malapad yung street (ex EDSA) na i-cocross mo eh abutan ka in the middle of the intersection ng RED light considered po ba ito na violation??

    tia

AFAIK, if you've breached the intersection na naka-green pa or kahit naka-yellow yung light, wala ka pang violation kahit abutan ka ng red light sa gitna (happens to me sometimes with slow-moving traffic).

When you're approaching an intersection and you notice the light change from green to yellow, full stop ka na lang just to be safe, huwag mo nang habulin. Kalokohan yun. :D

Medyo nalalabuan nga ako sa beating the red light. I think you're supposed to slow down when approaching a traffic light (kahit green) to reduce the chances of you getting stuck at the intersection when the light turns yellow or red. I was told that in some streets in the US, may mga radar speed traps a few hundred meters from a traffic light to check if cars that get caught by cameras at the intersection when the light turns yellow slowed down as they approached the intersection. I hope someone in the US can verify this.

That said, hindi ba kaya may delay sa pag-green yung lights ng street perpendicular to the street na kakared lang is to make sure na clear na yung intersection bago sila umandar.

The purpose of the YELLOW light is to warn the driver to start slowing down and prepare for the RED light coming in a few seconds. Unfortunately many of the local stoplights have their yellows on only for less than three seconds before the red light comes on.

The yellow light should be lighted for longer so that there would be ample time to react to it.

Or better yet, get rid of the yellow light BUT install LED countdown displays that display the seconds before the light changes. In metro manila, the only place I saw this is along Roxas when the Baywalk area was popular. Another place I have seen this is in Clark. Heck, even Bangkok, Thailand has them. Personally I think these would be a good tool at busy intersections.

I also think that the countdown timer type ang the best. It varies from 1 second to five seconds.

The proper way to cross an intersection if your lane traffic is very slow moving or stop and go or not moving at all is to keep the intersection open (even if your traffic light is still green),- do not block the intersection.

Most of the times, it is not applicable here dahil sa mga buwaya sa daan na kukunin ang puwesto mo at iba-block din lang ang intersection,- kaya napipilitan ang mga matitinong drivers na gayon na rin ang gawin.....Very slow moving/slow moving is quite subjective. Anyway, you said it was not stop and go, so I guess you did that properly.

*muddtracker- The cameras in the US are for those who run red lights. Slowing down at an intersection even when the light is green is not good because it can cause an accident. The correct answer to the TS is you are not supposed to cross the intersection unless you are sure you can clear it before the light turns red. But that rule only applies to countries where the lights are actually followed, so it doesn't get followed in the Philippines and makes the traffic worst. But there is no such thing as beating a yellow light.
