just wanna share with you fellow tsikoteers my incident with a rude and arrogant Traffic Enforcer along Elliptical Road and Kalayaan.![]()
it was a Sunday evening and after playing basketball, my and my brother decided to get some food to take home. so while traversing the Elliptical Road, we have to turn right sa Kalayaan for some take-out. here's what happened: may bottleneck sa area ng circle after East Ave. approaching City Hall. so traffic dun sa area and we were on the third lane (from the outside) negotiating the traffic. at my front was a bus and to my right were two buses plying their route tapos puro jeep na naka-ipon sa first lane nearest to City Hall. bottom-line: punong-puno ng PUB's and PUJ's as they took up the 2 outermost lanes and practically some of the third as well.
approaching Kalayaan, we signalled to turn right. kaagad may sumensyas sa 'min na Yellow-Shirt na Enforcer. so naturally, I rolled down my window and asked him what the problem was. "Swerving kayo, itabi mo dyan...", remark ng Enforcer. Ok, so tumabi kami. when tumabi na kami, i asked him and tried to calmly explain to him that we weren't swerving and there were PUB's and PUJ's along the 3 lanes. In fact, nasa third lane pa nga kami. the guy wouldn't even listen sa amin. he even raised his voice further and wouldn't listen to reason. so after a couple of minutes of talking with him resorting to shouting and berating us, he asked us to alight from the vehicle. I refuse. "Bakit? Bakit ako bababa ng sasakyan?", I ask him. sabi nya, "ipapakita ko sa 'yo yung yellow marker and arrow..." I still adamantly refuse because at that point he was being discourteous to me and my brother. then I say, just to make the arguement progress, "o sige, paliwanag mo sa amin ano violation namin tapos kami naman magsasalita.." he then says the same thing all over again about us not following the lane and nagmamatigas pa daw kami.
ok... so I told him, "ok nakapagsalita ka na, kami naman." wala pang five words kami sa pagsalita, he butts in and says, "mali kayo, hindi... basta mali kayo.." WTF? i tell him, "o pinagsalita na kita, kami naman, 'di ba?" at that point, he irritatingly says, "may karapatan ako manghuli dito at may karapatan kang mag-contest nyan sa city hall.. PATINGIN ng lisensya mo." I was exasperated at this point because we were butting heads for almost 10 minutes already with him not listening to any single word I've said. so I remark, "may karapatan din kaming magpaliwanag sa 'yo, 'di ba? sige, di ba sabi mo violation namin Swerving? define mo." he then arrogantly explains that pwede daw mag-turn right kung nasa 1st, 2nd or 3rd lane kami.
since nasa third lane kami in the first place when we were signaling to turn right, I remind him of this. Matigas pa rin siya. He still wants my license para mabigyan na daw niya ako ng ticket. so I take out my license and show it to him. he then reaches out and tries to take my license from me. I don't give it to him. I was pissed already "teka di ba sabi mo gusto mo lang tingnan? ayan tingnan mo." my brother then proceeds to tell him, "sabi mo titingnan mo lang.."![]()
sensing that mali na yung reason for pulling us over, he then proceeds to threaten us na babaklasin daw niya yung plaka namin kasi hindi daw namin alam ang mga ordinance sa QC. WTF?!! pati plaka naman gusto na kunin? I then tell him, "alam mo, standstill na tayo dito and you just cannot remove plates ng basta-basta..." this then brought another round of shouting and rudeness from him. he was ranting already and exclaiming na "kahit magtawag pa kayo ng general dyan..."
then, another yellow-shirt officer comes over and intervenes. he pulls the rude enforcer aside and tells him to cool off. he then instructs us to drive a few meters ahead para kaming dalawa na lang daw ang mag-usap. the guy takes a different approach and we converse calmly. I tell him, "alam niyo, pwede naman mag-usap ng maayos, 'di ba? hindi naman kailangan taasan kami ng boses at maging bastos sa 'min di ba?" he agrees. I then say, "kung gusto niyo makita lisensya ko, ipapakita ko naman sa inyo in the first place." he also agrees to this. so I show him my license, he looks at it then returns it to me afterwards. he then proceeds to wave us off and tells us to drive safely. I thank him for this. whew.
looking back at it, I know na mali yung first enforcer for pulling us over. he didn't want to admit to this and in fact, napikon so he resorted to bullying tactics, which unfortunately, wouldn't work.
