June 3rd, 2011 02:54 PM #11happened to me the other day at SCTEX somewhere in the bataan stretch southbound.
normally vehicles would stay at the right side of the road to allow overtaking vehicles on the left lane. running around 90-100km/h, i tried to overtake an SUV (ford everest) which was running around 70km/h but this driver did not let me pass through and goes side by side with me while i was overtaking. so to prevent any accident, i slowly moved back to the right lane and let him have his way. but the thing is, he started moving slowly again around 60-70km/h and i had to really give some distance to avoid sudden brakes. then i decided to overtake again, the same thing happened and the jerk did not let me through again. i dont know what's with this driver and what's going on in his mind. to be safe, i just gave him his way and be ahead of me but he was so slowwwww!!! then the final stretch, i gave enough space, shifted back to 4th gear, and tried to overtake for the last time. the jerk did the same thing but i had to overtake him and get out of his sight and we went toe-to-toe for at least 30 seconds running around 180km/h and i was gone off his sight when he can't catch up with me anymore. when i knew that there was a safe distance, i switched back to normal driving until I reached manila.
i think this driver was trying to impress his female companion since they are the only ones inside the vehicle thinking that i was a newbie since i still dont have my plates with me. as the saying goes, "pag pumatol ka sa gago, mas gago ka.." and it may have been a bad decision on my part to went toe-to-toe with him. but it would be beneficial for me that time to be out of that situation at that moment rather than endure his so called "machismo" driving habit.
Are they on track to surpass last year's sales?
