let me stop you right there. ang ganyang gawain/asal ay bad etiquette (never mind if it is motoring etiquette). bakit mo idadamay ang pasahero sa mali ng driver?

nasubukan mo na ba ang maging pasahero in the situation you posted? kung regular mong ginagawa eto, kindly post your vehicle details like color, model, plate number so that the next time I'm a passenger and a vehicle does what you described, I'll know who to blame.

often times it is best to stop and consider what you are doing, especially when on the road. you became part of the problem instead of being a solution.

sa dalawang nagsuggest pa ng ng brand ng busina.. shame on you. hindi nakakatuwa ang mabingi ng busina, lalo kung pasahero ka.

Quite often, the passengers are not so innocent. They want the jeep to stop as soon as they signal, right then and there - never mind that the jeep is not situated properly to be able to let passengers on and off without inconveniencing other people - and kung di sila masunod, sila pa ang magagalit.

You can see this behavior in UP - drivers there are trained to load/unload only at specific stops, but whenever passengers who are not used to the system ride a jeep, signal that they want to get off, and find out that the driver isn't stopping exactly where they want to get off, they get angry at the driver.

Now even if this is not the case, even if you're not the passenger who wants to get off as soon as you signal the driver, you are still complicit in the act - you're perfectly ok with other passengers doing so, and don't bother to point out to the driver and your fellow passengers that it would be better to pull up at the side of the road so as not to inconvenience others.

So don't tell me about the inconvenience to the poor passengers - if a jeep doesn't pull up to the side properly and stops in the middle of the road to load/unload passengers, then I feel it's fair game to be honked at, as well as other measures to get it moving. Don't want to be honked at or inconvenienced getting out of the jeep? Tell the driver to pull up at the side properly. I've no issues with waiting behind a jeep or a bus that's at a proper stop and doesn't linger overly long waiting for passengers - kasalanan ko na na hindi ko naisip na may stop doon. Stopping in the middle of the road, though, is another matter.

are you familiar with the phrase "stooping to thier level"? because that is precisely what you do-- stoop to their level. you are thinking of only yourself as they are thinking of themselves. you also do sweeping generalizations and have convinced yourself that everyone is at fault.

I have often wondered why motorists in metro manila would install loud horns or bright lights (HID), now I know it's because of the mentality of getting even.

about loading/unloading in unconventional areas, twisted logic na accomplice ang pasahero. it is still at the discretion of the driver to comply with the passenger. i know this to be correct dahil sa ayala avenue in makati or even in buendia, pinagsasabihan pa ng mga driver na "bawal" magloading/unloading ang mga pasahero kahit na magalit pa sila.

hay, in fact, luma na ang pagiisip mo na magagalit ang mga pasahero kung hindi tumigil sa sigaw na "para". when was the last time you commuted?

That exactly is my issue - if drivers can do it at Ayala Ave., at UP, and certain other roads, why not everywhere? Now excuse me if I hold drivers on other roads to the same standards as those who drive along Ayala, Buendia and the IKOT route on UP - but I'm not going to sit mutely and just watch while a driver and/or passengers decide to be selfish and inconvenience everyone on the road; I'll express my disapproval in a fashion they can understand.

Since you seem to like quotes, let me give you one as well - "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." You, it would seem, would prefer that I just sit and do nothing while people do something wrong - just watch and not "inconvenience" the poor passengers. I feel that sometimes, road "courtesy" is trumped by the need to have people understand that they're doing something wrong.

Now, I can see that this is quickly devolving into a typical internet flame war, with both sides answering each other back, reiterating the same points over and over, and neither ever coming to agreement. So I'll just end my side here, having had my say.

AHH.. but what you are doing is not nothing but the opposite of a solution. instead of solving the situation without inconviniencing others, you chose to stoop to the level of the driver (the real culprit) and blast your horns at everyone.

in short.. you became one of those on the road with bad etiquette (never mind bad motoring etiquette, it's just plain bad etiquette).

you do your parents proud, btw.

since you said it was the last then I'd expect no more reply from you out of this. on my point of view, you're one of those we castigate here on this thread-- someone with bad etiquette.

so go ahead and stoop to the level of the type of people you blast your horns on. instead of doing a constructive or otherwise better solution, you simply chose the bad alternative.

    ------

just came from a round trip from manila to fetch my sick brother. at the NLEX this morning on my way to balintawak from dau right after the caltex station there was this group of (let's say) "exotics" weaving in and out of lanes, the lead car almost getting squashed between a bus and my vehicle. these exotics composed of porches and lambourghinis (2 of them I believe, color yellow). mukhang nagraracing sa nlex since I saw from afar one of the lambo overtaking at the right shoulder.

hay, weekend warriors indeed. to think I was running 90 kph while these yahoos maybe accelerating past 150
