While I was exiting the parking area, I saw this car in front of me. It had a hook-on bike rack at it's rear. The upper arms (wrapped with cloth) projects out for at least another foot and a half behind from the car. This was taken during the week. Unless this guy uses his bike everyday, there is no reason to have the rack attached to the car all the time... unless he is just plain lazy to remove it after his weekend bike rides.

BTW, I saw another couple of cars doing the same thing but I wasn't able to take a pic that time.

    madami din akong nakikitang ganyan.
i guess, they use their bikes every weekend and hassle pa ang pagkabit and pagtanggal.

But as you can see in the photo, leaving the clip-on bike rack results in car damage.

-deformed plastic bumper where the support rests
-scratch or rust at the hooks of the rack to the trunk lid, car owner had to place some sort of pads.
-scratches where the rack rubs against the car, the car owner had to place rags between the rack & car.

Not to mention it is a traffic hazard for motorcycles, pedestrians because of the two poles projecting out nearly two feet behind the car.

probably he is not concerned on that.
his concern is his image that he is a biker and owns a mountainbike more expensive than his car.

Well its his car, and his time. Can't really judge if he's lazy or not as we all don't know how he runs his life.

Sa mga tawiran along Roxas Blvd from Luneta to CCP.

I think he is concerned enough that he installed pads at the hooks.

I witnessed a scenario wherein the guy crumpled his cars' trunk and bumper after backing into a parking lot wall. He forgot he had an empty bikerack on the back of his car,

May office mate ako, biker talaga. CF yung body ng bike nya. Sa sobrang hilig nya magbike, he bought an everest just to bring the bike anywhere, including the office. Kapag ginanahan mag bike, park nya lang yung oto then get his bike and ride home to laguna. Papakuha nya na lang yung everest.

Walang bike rack. Baka manakaw yung bike eh. Nasa loob lagi yung bike.

ive seen a montero so new wala pa plate number.. pero basag na ang rear windshield.. when the driver came out i asked him what happend.. he forgot nga daw that he had a bike rack still on.. on sundays i see so many cars.. suv's with bike racks, some even have bikes on them goin up to tagaytay.. that just tells me they cant bike up to tagaytay.hehhe.. im a biker.but my bike fits into my starex van with out pulling it apart, that makes it fortunate i wont fall into this catagory like the guy on the pic. heheh.. funniest thing ive ever seen though is a toyota landcruise with a bike rack at the back. but just carrying a small bike for a child with training wheels.. hehehe..

i wish i had a bike rack especially after a mud ride. messy mag ligpit ng bike na putikan lalo pa kung sa loob ng trunk, or in my case sa loob ng revo ;).
(but i feel my bike's more secure inside revo. disassembly not needed ~ not even for 29wheel!. parang OC ako na iwan bike at bike rack kung saan saan. besides, nakakasira pa ata ito ng ng hinges or bumper alignment. )

yung friend ko may roof mount rack. hirap mag kabit nang bike - GRABE! sayang energy at oras lalo na pag early morning ride.

Bro use hitch type bike rack it's a lot easier to install and dismount no need to disassemble your bikes front tire or sometimes front and rear pag sedan, absolutely no damage to the car and bike as well. Pag pinapasok mo sa auto mo malaki chance magasgas ang bike and the car's interior such as seats door trims/sidings, di mo napapansin pag umaandar ka na nag kikiskisan yan not unless kung tatalian mo ng mahigpit which dagdag effort... just my 2 cents

Back when I used to bike regularly, I just removed the front wheel and placed it inside my Toyota Corolla with the rear seats folded down. No bike rack nor big SUV needed.
