Some people are telling that a car must be started every morning even if you're only using the car once a week. Other than "charging the battery" is there a main reason behind this? Or is this purely a myth?

Will there be a detrimental effect to today's modern engine if it's not started every day?

Starting the car daily. MYTH. Starting the car at least once a week. NOT A MYTH.

There is no need to start the engine everyday if you don't use it. Fact is, it will be more detrimental to the engine if you start it and don't drive it, expecially when it does not reach it optimal (driving) temperature.
