Pricevaries depending on condition. The most expensive regardless of condition are the limited/special production mustangs.

    From a collectibility standpoint, I recommend you look for a fastback or a convertible with a V8 engine (289c.i., 302c.i., 351c.i., 390c.i.)

    The Classic Generation:
    1st release - 1964 1/2 to 1966
    2nd redesign - 1967-1968
    3rd redesign - 1969-70
    4th & 5th redesign - 1971-1973

    Beyond 1973, its just crap!

Buy a V8 (whether small or big block), take note of the following:
The most collectible (concourse quality) as stock: 1964 1/2 to 1966
Selective collectibility - 1967 to 1968 (fastback and convertible)

Limited & special production mustangs (all are V8's):
1966 Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R (the purest iteration Shelby cars)
    1967 California Special coupe
1968 390 big block GT (the one used in the movie Bullitt)
    1968 Shelby GT500 and GT350
    1969 Boss 429 (big block)
    1969 Mach 1
1970 Boss 302 and new version of Boss 429

    Happy hunting!
