That lawsuit may just put a too huge a dent on their bottomline.
do what you gotta do so you can do what you wanna do
Wonder if they can sue their transmission vendor also

Ford will fight it though, as we all expect they will. But the message is clear, they are making trannys which are defective.
Yet another reason, I will not be buying a Ford (Fix Or Repair Daily) anytime in the future.
the rangers and everests have been outstanding. as well as the ford f150s and mustangs that have the new 10R80s.
their only mistake was the dcts. which they have already ditched. most current vehicles including the ecosports have the newer shift selects torque converters.
Speaking of Ecosports Master SE, I was riding as a front passenger in one a few months ago, while cruising down the NLEX at around 100KpH, the engine and tranny sounded really loud. Is that normal for this model? You will really notice both major components at high speed.
Only their dry clutch DCTs have faulty issues but yeah they should have properly managed the problem instead of denying it and shifting the blame to the owners hihi. They are most likely to get slapped with another high penalty.
1st im not a master...
regarding this ecosport. we need to find out if its mt or at. and which model year. and when the last maintenance was done. many owners skip servicing because of the cost.
also the noise could be from the wheel bearing. maybe it has been submerged in a flood. too many variables in my opinion where discussions can be inconclusive.
The previous gen (1.5L 4-cylinder NA, DCT) is known to be not good in terms of performance. My wife once rode with her friend’s Ecosport and she told her friend bluntly that her car feels labored on SCTEX. The new generation is better in terms of performance, specially the Ecoboost model.

I think your wife and I had the same experience Master E.
I do hope Ford improves the quality their local offerings. So many people depend on them.
It has it's uses sometimes. Agreed though, this will be a test on how Ford-PH handles group complaints if ever the issues with the DCTs pop out locally.Originally Posted by StockEngine

Ang dami nga dyan, here is the complete list from only that one bank. Lots of other brands too though, Hyundais and Toyotas as well.

Re the DCTs, Ford PH will charge you an arm and a leg to have it replaced if experience reminds me correctly.
My uncle owned the 2007 generation 1.8 Ford Focus and 2010 Fiesta (I know both had DCTs). Both needed to be replaced and Ford PH was charging an arm and a leg for them. I know it was outside the 3 year warranty (by a few months) when the issues were really presenting themselvews. Within the warranty period, we've tried everything Ford adviced to remove the shudder, including (among other things) resetting it manually. I know the method was posted here 10 years ago and it was the same thing their techs did back then.
Still, shuddering or jerking eventually will lead to failure, especially if you are just using it in Manila City Traffic Conditions.
To have the work done at least to get the car running again, my uncle just had their service technician do it outside casa time. Where the parts came from.... Well, I think we can all guess where they were "borrowed".
When I did drive for my uncle a few times and noticed the jerking/shuddering (like the transmission was unable to decide to go with first or second gear), I used the manual mode on the Focus, but the Fiesta (at that generation) didn't have a manual mode.
My Fiesta Ecoboost performed well in my care even up to the point when its TCM was updated. I sold it and the buyer had no issues with it. I guess the turbo (Ecoboost) engine works well with a DCT tranny.
I have no qualms with DCT or DSG trannies in general as they perform well. However, some Ford cars have reliability issues with their DCT trannies.
