will water fording damage your engine?

alam ko - not to pour water in a radiator of an overheated engine that is not running. it might or will crack your engine block. You should be concern if the water enters your intake manifold through your air filter housing. No problem with the muffler as diesel engine can idle even if the muffler is underwater (see my avatar). :wink:

Never pa naman may nangyaring masama sa amin while fording although hindi nga recommended dahil sa sudden drop in temperature. Even the axles and tranny are hot.

Don't worry so much. Hindi naman mag-flood suddenly into the engine compartment yung water when you ford.

Mas importantend hindi pasukin ang intake mo.

While reading an article sa kakayanan ng humvees na lumusong sa tubig....ang namention nila lang ay - all the breathers ng axle, transmissions, and engine are all connected to the air intake/filter chamber....therefore it's waterproof.

I don't think magkaka-crack din...unless natuyuan na ang engine mo ng tubig at uminit ng husto....kasi water-jacketed din naman yung block...unless super taas ng temp ng makina then sudden drop ito ng biglaan.

Based from my experience, I only found out when I replaced the clutch assembly. The old clutch disc and flywheel had water spots. The water didn't enter the clutch assembly though maybe some sprinkle at the most. These water spots are caused hence by its name suddenly touching any hot metal surface. And also water spots are harder to be manipulated by lathe machines.
