help please! regarding ford lynx ghia ecu/comp box

gud pm to all members, just wanted to get some advice regarding my lynx ghia 00 model. car got flooded which resulted in a busted computer box. I tried to get it fixed at a local shop with a replacement comp box (same model) however to no avail. Next, i tried contacting the local ford services regarding my situation. they told me that i had to purchase the box from them and have to reset the comp box before it would work.

my question is, is it really true that my only option is to purchase a brand new comp box before having it resetted?
isn't it possible to simply purchase a used/2nd hand comp box and just have them reset it as well?

what happened to your car re; your problem on comp. box? I HAVE ALSO SAME PROBLEM ON MY FORD LYNX GHIA 2002 MY COMP. BOX WAS BUSTED DUE TO ONDOY PLOD. PLS HELP HOW DID YOU SOLVE YOUR COMP BOX PROBLEM
