November 22nd, 2010 11:41 AM #1Might get a first car, probably 2011 Ford Focus 5-door 2.0L TDCi+PSDCT between March to May, 2011.
It bothers me that the 2012 Focus is coming soon. Do you think I should wait for the '12 Focus instead of getting the '11/'10 Focus? or dahil lalabas yung '12 Focus sa Europe, US and China between January to March magpaimport na lang ng diesel '12 Focus?

You should wait! The new Focus is a killer, Ford is really upping their game big time... After seeing mule 9th gen Civic all I can say is Focus na!

Unless you are desperate for a car, I would suggest waiting for the new Focus.
But if Ford is offering major discounts on the selling price, the 2010/2011 Focus can be a good deal even with the coming 2012 Focus. So if Ford isn't offering price incentives to buy it's outgoing model Focus, best to wait.

November 22nd, 2010 01:20 PM #4I personally would not want to wait.. Lalo na kasi wala nang maghahatid/sundo sa family by June if I don't get a car by then.
What about importing from the markets getting the '12 Focus earlier than the rest of the world?

Better wait for the new, kasi sa brand new nga pag labas pa lang ng casa 100K off sa value. Lalo na kung previous model pa.

Well if you really need a car then that's your personal situation, I am suggesting more from a better option situation and that is to wait for the new Focus...

Patay ka pa sa taxes if ever... And there is no guarantee the local Ford would be willing to service your vehicle... Pero an ECOnetic model of a Focus? Hmmm... very tempting...

True, because of our killer taxes, it will be more expensive to have the car imported.
PS: Ford services gray market cars, they just don't honor the warranty and obviously spare parts unique to the imported model will have to be ordered (expensive).
There was an article in Top Gear Philippines about this, I also asked Standout Motors about this before when they were still selling the Focus ST here.

If you're always going to be looking at the next wave ahead, you'll end up with nothing. It's a peculiar vanity among car freaks, but one that isn't necessarily helpful in this case, especially since you have family to consider.
Get the best deal you can for the current model Focus. I'm sure that it'll be no less enjoyable than the future model.Last edited by Bogeyman; November 22nd, 2010 at 03:39 PM.
