Advise on buying 2000 - 2004 Ford Ranger XLT

I'm planning to buy a Ford Ranger 4x4 XLT model 2000 to 2004. I find it cheaper compared to other 4x4 pick ups of the same date. May I get advise on the usual problems of the unit and what to inspect if I buy one. Also, if there is anyone who knows the complete specs of the unit kindly post it because I can't seem to find its specs. Also, may I ask what are the strengths and weaknesses of this unit. Thank you.

old thread na ito, pero need ko rin malaman kung bibili kami ngayon ng 2000-2004 ranger ano dapat icheck? 4x4 turbo diesel.. thanks!!

heres what I know:

2004 ford ranger trekker xlt
-capacity nya 1.350 tons including 4 or 5 passengers
-longest pickup bed compared to other pickups of the same year
-turbo diesel intercooler
-estimated consumption 8-10 km/l city at 10-12 km/l highway
-malakas ang preno, ang laki din ng drum brake
-ang laki ng shocks sa likod, yung sa front right nasira ko yung sakin kasi di ako nagmemenor pag sumasampa ng gutter hehe
-yung 4x2 trekker ko oct 2004 so yung upholstery nya pang 2005 and up na
-hauled a lot of stuffs including rocks na nasa 800kg ang estimated total weight + 3 adult passengers, no problem whatsoever.
-engine has a lot of torque, it can climb a steep incline on 2nd gear and without stepping on the gas
-makapal ang kaha
-malakas ang aircon
-medyo maikli yung space sa rear seats at mataas ang inclination ng sandalan
-ramdam ang vibration ng engine sa loob ng sasakyan, maingay din hehe
-may tendency kumalampag ang doors sa lubak pag pudpod na yung door latch pero pwede naman baliktaran using a "star key"
-4x2 yung sakin pero with LSD
-medyo malaki ang turning radius nya

^ masikip rear seats niya like most pick-up of those years. La pa yang ABS unlike yung 2007-08 model.

Yung bushings niyan esp sa shocks ay hindi kasing-tibay ng Toyota or Mitsu kung OEM quality pag-uusapan. Kaya wag ka bibili ng replacement if ever, buti pa pagawa ka nung may ply from used big tires.

May katipiran yan sa diesel, nearest to Isuzu IMO. Make sure ok din radiator niya, sana OEM pa.

Nakakadala magkaron nito ang mahal ng maintenance, labor and parts grabe sa mahal. Isa lang matinong casa ng ford- ford libis lng kaso parati naman puno. Ford connecticut, balintawak, quezon ave bulok

There is a reason why it is quite cheaper than similar makes of other brands in the 2nd-hand market. It's not that coveted so resale value is low.

The old Ranger is inferior in terms of reliability and fuel efficiency compare to say the Fuego.
