Question about a late 70s-early 80s Ford Granada Estate

I was looking at a friend's garage and noticed he had an old Ford Granada Estate. Am fond of old Euro estates and he said if I wanted it he would sell it to me reasonably. Was wondering if anyone knows of any resource group regarding these old Brit Fords here. Am looking at it for a stationwagon with a bit of character. Also, since it is first owned and was running til they decided to keep in the garage it is in pretty decent shape.

Am looking at it for a toy to play with. Any hop-ups normally done to these period cars?

Also have you seen some radical mods done to these online?

Any problems I should look out for as well?

I previously owned an 82 Ford Granada 2.8 V6.

Great car, I used it everyday and for a V6 automatic it averages 5 to 6km/l. Its suspension system is one of its best features. Double wishbone at the front and fully independent at the rear with a negative camber built-in. Engine is dead reliable but the auto transmission I'm having some problems with. Parts? I buy them from Aranzazu at Aurora Blvd just in front of Anonas st.

This would be a great project car. Too bad I sold it for financial reasons but the guy who bought it restored it so in a way I'm happy.

As a restoration project, as always, the trim, such as headlights, tail-lights, chrome, etcetera... will be the most important. Trim pieces are always the hardest to get. For these "euro-Fords", sometimes your only source will be UK sellers who will charge an arm and a leg for trim parts.

For mechanicals, you can salvage from other cars, or, in the case of engines and trannies, frankenstein something for the car. In fact, some garages can even frankenstein suspension parts, if need be.

I have no personal knowledge of Granadas (except those fond memories of riding in one in High School... great car...), but the Ford Escort Club of the Philippines might be able to help. They've got their own subforum at http://forum.fordclubph.com

My mistake it is a MK5/80 Cortina Stationwagon. Complete. No missing pieces and running. Think shouldn't be a big problem. Was thinking of parts actually and thanks for the tip.

It is a 4 speed manual so tranny shouldn't be a prob. Also found out you can get hop-up parts for it online.

Yup, you can get parts online, but if it's from the UK, medyo mahal. But if you really want to do this, go ahead! The Cortina was a good car. Get in contact with those Escort boys, and they might be able to point you at other guys who might have Cortina parts.
