may nabalaitaan kana ba about sa bagong expedition? with regards to ride, dahil independent suspension na. yung engine daw and body mas lighter narin baka maging mas matipid, puro theory lang yan sana mabigyan mo ako ng konting info kasi alam ko marami ka kakilala.
no special purpose naman, compared to other suv's pinakamaluwag na siya kasi 8 kami sa family. worth it ba yung lakas niya sa gas for it's roominess? wala talaga ako idea kung gaano katakaw yung expe.
PROMDIBOY, as what jay crew said, downside lang ng exped, and with other american SUVs, is the fuel consumption. kasi all the japanese SUVs being sold locally are equipped with diesel fed engines. hindi pa po ako nakakasakay ng expedition in motion (pero nakasakay na ako ng exped na nakadisplay sa dealer :mrgreen kaya i can't comment anything about its ride and handling. pero ang sabi ng mga kakilala kong may exped or nakasakay na ng exped, sobrang sarap daw sakyan, sobrang ok daw ng suspension. sa looks naman, talagang wala na akong masabi, especially yung new exped, lalo na yung red!
kung ok lang sayo ang malagripong fuel consumption ng exped, make this your first choice. actually, maganda na ang price nito at around P2M. yung toyota LC100 costs almost
expe goes around 3.5km-4km/liter , mas malakas pa f-150 3km/liter lang, nakasakay na ako ng expe, damn, the ride is sooooo smooth! it feels like your floating, it eats up any imaginable potholes., dati there was one street near our area, it is loaded with potholes, e sentra lang car ko so ramdam lahat ng lubak, yung expe dinaan dun , ngek, parang walang nangyari:lol: , and another thing expe size is very intimidating, takaw sa mata... downside is it's car is gas guzzler, hard to maintain, hard to park etc..., full tank yata 150 liters, so kun ang gas ngayon 20 php per liter x 150 liters = $$$$$,:mrgreen::mrgreen:, the verdict is, if your rich and can afford the gas bills and maintenance then go for it, it's one of the best car that money can buy, but kun tama tama lang ang budget, just go for more cheaper practical car/vans like crv, rav4, sedona, venture, starex etc... , think of it , you can buy 2 cars for just one expe...
Just got this 2002 exped with 59k mileage from my cousin 3 weeks back. I saw it in his garage in good running condition so when he offered it to me at 600k, I immediately said yes and paid him there and there. I regreted my spur of the moment action 'cause when I checked around, the ongoing selling price for such model is only 450k. Bad luck for me.
Well, I am generally happy with the SUV condition and its a joy to drive around the city on weekends (only) due to high fuel consumption (about 6-7 km/liter so far). The a/c stopped cooling the other week so I brought it to Frigid Zone Kamias where they topped up the freon but said that a/c needs cleaning which could take a full day. It's still cooling now so didn't go back yet to that shop.
I've read in this thread lot's of problems pertaining to suspension and rip-off by Ford service centers. For my other cars, I only patronize the dealer for warranty reason but since this exped is not new anyway, not to mention the restrictive cost in maintenance, i'm a bit cost concious now. Could anybody please recommend a good, honest service center/repair shop where I can buy original parts and avail of service at reasonable prices.
lance, Congrats sa bago mong ride. Also 'must commend you, your fuel consumption is great. I never reach 6km/lt. You are probably using Shell Fuel Save Unleaded.
If you are looking for a good shop, Magntech is good one. Cubao area near Araneta center. Look for Joel Ramos. He is good guy. Puro v8 ang ginagawa nila.
Thanks for the recommendation, will definitely try magtech.
Yes I use Shell unleaded fuel save and get 5% rebate via Citibank Shell card. By the way Petron offers "engine cleaning" additive at Php75/liter for their xtra unleaded fuel. Do you think it's safe to use this?
Going back to my 2002 Exped, I went to Autotechnika at the Fort last Saturday to have the dashboard airbag lights checked. The mechanic told me that they charge Php950 to have that particular problem diagnosed using their computer. I agreed and the result was a B1998 code. My disappointment was when he said that I have to check it myself in the internet what that code meant. The worst part was when I paid the Php950 charge, the secretary told me that the actual price was Php1,600. I argued but ultimately paid the Php1,600!!! What a rip-off!
This morning my officemate told me that such type of diagnostics are free at any Ford service centers. I checked the internet and decoded what the error code meant...it's passenger side, side mount airbag circuit open. Might have something to do with the sensor.
Maintaining vehicles in tip top share can really take a lot of personal time and of course finances. An honest mechanic is really a rare gem nowadays.
It's Magnatech, Sorry for misspelling it on my earlier post.
Sorry I can't comment on engine cleaning additive. Just to be safe ask expert 1st before trying anything that is beyond the ordinary.
AFAIK, ECU or Error code scanning is not free at any dealership. Mostly they charge 5K for the scanning or diagnostic alone.
If you have only ask I could have scan it for you for FREE. I have bought my own scanner. It makes repairs a lot easier.
It's a good investment, you can get one on eBay very cheap. I got mine for only 6K plus tax and shipping.
