thinking of getting a 2007 escape or 2006 tribute

    2007 escape
    - 2.3L engine
    - A/T FLOOR shift
    - kinda new subtle (look forrester) look
    - 1.143 MM

    2006 tribute
    - 3.0L engine
    - A/T COLUMN shift
    - sunroof
    - leather seats
    - dont know when new body will come out
    - net 1.099 MM

    help me decide

For my money, I'd get the Tribute since it has more features than the Escape. The only sorepoint in the Tribute is the smallish wheels & tires and bland looking interior trim.

The new Escape & Tribute might be out within this year - I'm guessing around 3Q or 4Q.

2007 Escape is out last Dec 29. Saw it in 1 of the dealers. You are right on the interior trim of the new Escape, nice center/floor console.
    Mazda has 16" wheels.

So available na pala ang upgraded Escape sa dealers ha at nasa 1.143M lang sya(2.3 Liter 2WD version)..I think Escape nalang ang kunin mo or better yet wait mo nalang yung new gen Everest.

    i'd get the tribute too.
yun nga lang, i am sure, mas malakas fuel consumption nyan compared to the escape.

If you don't mind the fuel consumption, the 3 liter Tribute is a nice vehicle.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Tribute, if you're ok with the 5km/L or less fuel consumption. The wheels are indeed smallish and the interior rather bland, but then the P44K you've saved can help start you off with some nice wheels, well, at least pay for a part of the wheels and tires. Or you could use the money saved for a nice HU and/or LCD monitor. Or you could keep it all stock and save the P44K to pay for your gas bills. Is the 2.3L engine that much less thirsty?

FYI, the looks of 2007 Escape is exactly the same as the 2006 model, only a very little modification such as the round fog lamps, and a front grill like that of a Ford Everest. You can ask any Ford dealer of their 2007 calendar and the picture is there.

The model 2008 Escape however looks like this:

..and the dashboard is totally different.

Very NICE! However the problem with this dash is you cannot install an in-dash LCD screen, unless you need to have the control panel modified and have it custom made.

I for one is an owner of a 2006 model Escape, NBX 2.3L here at PI. Very nice ride and interior design, but I higly suggest you should not buy any of the current 2006-2007 Escape or the Mazda Tribute. Both vehicles have a lousy RECIRCULATING AIRCON SWITCH KNOB DESIGN! "Walang No.1 fan setting kundi 2 agad". Ive called my local dealer here to try to order the US version to repace it to correct this problem but local dealers here are incompetent to my queries. They are very limited to what is available at their Ford plant in Laguna. Naiinis talaga ako dahil pagkatapos nila nabenta car saakin e parang hindi na nila magaqwan ng paraan yung problema.

If somebody from Ford Group of Company can read this, I hope this serves as a wake-up call and recall this problem on your current Escape or Tribute model.

My advice is, just wait for the 2008 model Escape to be out on the local market. The problem with the recirculating switch should have been eliminated. I too am waiting for it to arrive, and I surely will trade-in mine as soon as its available here.
