The Musashi is the sister ship of the battleship Yamato. It was over 850 ft long and displaced 69,000 tons. That's approaching the size of an aircraft carrier and outweighs any of them save for the US supercarriers.

She sank after being hit by 17 bombs and 19 torpedoes. The ship would've been a total mess as it sank. Who would have the money to rebuild her? Mucho moolah.

Add: Besides, a battleship's crew is somewhere just above 2000. When the Musashi sank, over 2000 of her crew died. I'm thinking the Japanese people would be infuriated at the thought of the Musashi being raised only to be turned into a restaurant.

The USS Midway's different. She was too late for WW2 and survived her service duty without serious damage or huge loss of life.

Add: Actually, 1023 of her crew died when she was sunk<---Wikipedia

I suppose the Musashi can be raised and cleaned up as a memorial. It could become a tourist attraction or a pilgrimage point for the Japanese much like many do when visiting tiny islands that were battlefields during WW2.

I'm not sure what the atmosphere is in the Philippines with regards to the Japanese. I mean the war's long over. But, there's bound to be some bad memories still lingering among some Pinoys. My father did for a long time. But, he finally made his peace.

Nevertheless, the Japanese still have a right to honor/grieve those who never came home.

Party venue at the battleship USS Midway!
