I think someone from the States brought home a "veggie meat" called Quorn. It is basically made from soya beans and some forms of fungi (the beneficial ones!!) I haven't come across it in the Phils. but you know how it is... if it is in the States, then you can find it in the Philippines. Just look at the prolifieration of US chocolates and candies, let alone brand names that we thought were only in the US, are now in the Phils!! You can try the upmarket supermarkets. They might have some. Failing that, why don't you just try "tokwa"--- this is the main ingredient/component of "veggie meat"

Mahilig din akong kumain sa Bodhi! Pero kung gusto mo ng talagang masarap na vegetarian food, try eating at Greens (Scout Castor St., near Tomas Morato). Veggie meat heaven. :harp:

Re where to buy frozen veggie meat, I remember seeing some at Hi-Top (Quezon Ave.); andun kasama ng ibang frozen goods (french fries, fish balls, etc.).

I haven't tried them yet, but I will. Soon.

    I'll keep you posted.

From a carnivore's point of view, "mock meat" is aptly named. Just one taste of the meat, and you'll mock it instantly.

I say, just bring on the vegetables. Adobong kangkong....

Okay yan, adobong kangkong. Sarap! Mura pa. Pero I-try nyo yung kangkong dish sa mga Thai Resto. Iba ang luto nila. Aside form garlic, may halong black beans, yung yung nagpapa-alat.

manila sanitaium bwahaha! akala ko joke, meat from manila sanitarium hehehe! reading further down totoo pala meron dun hehehe!

call me kj but we tried bodhi last month, take out. late na and sarado na kasi lahat ng fast food sa SM food court and only bodhi was open, buy-one-take-one pa. we ended up eating sandwiches later since tinapon lang namin, pati aso namin ayaw ng lasa. i suppose it needs getting used to, or simply a matter of taste, or even commitment for the vegetarian. but never again! hangang tokwa lang ako. real meat is king!

drey, i guess it's around 30 for a 4 or 5 pack. i grew up with this stuff but for the life of me i can't remember the last time i ate an onion hopia. of course veggie meat is nowhere near the real thing but if you're and imaginative cook then you can make delicious dishes too.

Nung una dinayo ko pa sa manila sanitarium and luckily meron nga sa luna mencias before shaw blvd. vegefood ang name ng mini resto nila. Meron silang dried at meron ding canned veggie meat products. okay yung hopia nila which are made of onions.

Ang sarap kumain dun then take out ng mga cookies, soya milk, breads and hopia.

yup, the onion hopia is something else. at AUP they also sell veggie burgers. a big producer of vegefoods , COUNTRY VEGEFOODS, is located somewhere in San Juan. You may also want to check it out. I like AUP wheat bread but Little Corner's Wheat bread is much better.

I don't like the foods in AUP. I like the veggie foods in MVC far better. I mean, if we are talking about soya milk. Hehehehe...
