I received an email saying that cabbage helps you lose weight. How? I do not know. hehe. I did the cabbage soup diet before and it was so awful! I almost swore cabbage off my regular diet.

I went on a diet several years ago, I only ate 2 bananas for lunch and 1 apple for merienda. I had regular meals for breakfast and dinner (1/4 cup rice). I think I lost 60 pounds in less than a year but I ended up looking like a skeleton. I was too weak to exercise and I'd throw up if I ate too much (sounds like I had an eating disorder then) hehe.

walang specific food na nakakapayat. ang mangyayari lang in order for you to lose weight:

    a. minimize on starches/simple carbs which turn into sugar/fat if unused.
    b. regularly eat green vegetables/fruits

the thing is, minimize calorie intake if you are not using or do not need calories. for an average man, the calorie requirement is 2000 kcals/day. pag sumobra, unburned yun, nagiging fat. to lose weight, considering the average kcal requirement, you have to intake something lower, like 1500-1800/day. tapos sabayan mo ng exercise.

I lost 10 lbs in 5 weeks. Used to be 175lbs I'm now down to 166lbs. Here's my basic diet.

Breakfast: Fruit juice (fresh - not canned), fruits (fresh - not canned) and oatmeal
Lunch: Veggie salad (no crutons, no meat) with tuna. Dressing is vinaigrette (no thousand island or french dressing). Fruits before lunch (para di na gaano magutom)
Dinner: half-cup brown/red rice and fish.

Go heavy on the breakfast (imporant meal of the day) and go light on your supper/dinner.

I also drink lots of water. I still eat meat but only once a week - hindi pa marami serving (I'm currently on 85% veggie and fruit diet). Stay away from soda, coffee, liquior, beer, junk food, chocolate, donuts, etc. Also, chew your food well before swallowing as this practice helps send a signal to your brain that you're belly is full after several spoon/fork-full of grub. If you feel the urge to snack, nibble on a fruits or drink water.

One important thing: stay active! Diet without excercise or engaging in any physical activity is nearly worthless. I play badmiton and tennis weekly.

the only food that i know of that actually makes you lose weight is celery. the calories expended in chewing and digesting it are actually more than the food itself has. other than that, it's just eating sensibly and working out like a demon.

since january, i've lost 40 lbs just from cutting out sugars and simple carbs (worst offenders besides desserts - white rice and softdrinks/beer) from my diet and replacing it with high protein foods. but the main trick is to have discipline and motivation to exercise - did either a 4-mile run or a 20-mile bike ride at least 4 times every single week.

then i decided last month that i lost too much weight and wanted to regain some muscle weight. now i've cut my cardio work way down, replaced much of it with 4x a week lifting weights, and doubled my protein intake. since then i've gained about 5 lbs of muscle...

you just have to stay motivated. pag tinamad ka or start making excuses, it's all over :eat:
