cure? counseling lang talaga for the most part, pwede ring hypnosis para ma-adress yung root cause nung depression (grabe, hypnosis and trance really work on some people, nakakatakot na nga e hehe) . there's really no sure-fire cure; anti-depression drugs aren't very effective kasi once tinanggal na yung gamot, babalik na yung depression.

friends and social support is extremely critical for chronically depressed patients. and of course, patience. delikado kasi yung mga suicicdal na

Do a research on St. John's Wort. It's an herb to treat mild depression. It raises your serotonin levels and it has been used in Europe for a while now. It made it to the US around 5 years ago. It's not an instant cure, you have to take it everyday and you'll notice the effect after 3-4 weeks of taking it. Do a research on this first before you buy any. I'm not sure where you can find these here though.

Minsan talaga gamot ang kailangan dito. Depression could be from chemical imbalance. Hindi mo lang pwedeng tiisin ito because it would just make you more miserable.

    stink..consult a professional...

hindi masama ang kumonsulta dun.malaki matutulong nila.

dapat matanggal ang stigma sa atin na pag nag consult ka sa kanila ay baliw ka.actually kahit normal na tao, dapat nag coconsult din sa kanila.

    goodluck pare.

*** lang gamot nyan. get laid 2x before bedtime and you can forget about going to the doc.

or may personal problems ka na di mo mailabas (papaya lang katapat nyan!) can lead to blood poisoning din yan ha!

o wag ka magalit, pinapatawa lang kita, baka sakaling magamot ng konting humor :-)

    Escitalopram oxalate.

Escitalopram has a primary high-affinity binding site and a secondary lower-affinity allosteric site in the serotonin transporter protein. Binding of escitalopram to the allosteric site enhances binding of the drug to the primary binding site, resulting in more complete serotonin reuptake inhibition. This also explains the enhanced potency of escitalopram compared with citalopram.
In vitro studies showed that escitalopram had no, or minimal effect on noradrenaline (NA), dopamine (DA) and gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) uptake.

    Sorry for reviving the thread.

    Why you stopped already?

My psychiatrist prescribed me this one, but I bought the cheaper brand.
Will start taking this week, and I'll see her after 2 weeks again.

I'm starting having panic attacks to the point na I feel inaatake sa heart. Lol

Sometimes I just want to pass out but my recent laboratories are fine and even my ECG. Kaya nagpa psychiatrist ako.

ung bromazepam is a benzo drug same as the famous valium

    for anxiety (not for depression)

ang trabaho ng benzo drugs pababagalin ang takbo ng isip kaya ang effect kakalma ka at aantokin

sa pagkaintindi ko it doesn't have to do with serotonin

the other 2 drugs (olanzapine and mirtazapine) are antidepressants

although hindi sila SSRI, they target the serotonin system

all these years the medical establishment believed that depression is caused by low serotonin

so drugs were developed to boost serotonin to treat depression

yun pala walang kinalaman ang depression sa low serotonin

The serotonin theory of depression: a systematic umbrella review of the evidence | Molecular Psychiatry

    Abstract
The serotonin hypothesis of depression is still influential. We aimed to synthesise and evaluate evidence on whether depression is associated with lowered serotonin concentration or activity in a systematic umbrella review of the principal relevant areas of research. PubMed, EMBASE and PsycINFO were searched using terms appropriate to each area of research, from their inception until December 2020. Systematic reviews, meta-analyses and large data-set analyses in the following areas were identified: serotonin and serotonin metabolite, 5-HIAA, concentrations in body fluids; serotonin 5-HT1A receptor binding; serotonin transporter (SERT) levels measured by imaging or at post-mortem; tryptophan depletion studies; SERT gene associations and SERT gene-environment interactions. Studies of depression associated with physical conditions and specific subtypes of depression (e.g. bipolar depression) were excluded. Two independent reviewers extracted the data and assessed the quality of included studies using the AMSTAR-2, an adapted AMSTAR-2, or the STREGA for a large genetic study. The certainty of study results was assessed using a modified version of the GRADE. We did not synthesise results of individual meta-analyses because they included overlapping studies. The review was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42020207203). 17 studies were included: 12 systematic reviews and meta-analyses, 1 collaborative meta-analysis, 1 meta-analysis of large cohort studies, 1 systematic review and narrative synthesis, 1 genetic association study and 1 umbrella review. Quality of reviews was variable with some genetic studies of high quality. Two meta-analyses of overlapping studies examining the serotonin metabolite, 5-HIAA, showed no association with depression (largest n = 1002). One meta-analysis of cohort studies of plasma serotonin showed no relationship with depression, and evidence that lowered serotonin concentration was associated with antidepressant use (n = 1869). Two meta-analyses of overlapping studies examining the 5-HT1A receptor (largest n = 561), and three meta-analyses of overlapping studies examining SERT binding (largest n = 1845) showed weak and inconsistent evidence of reduced binding in some areas, which would be consistent with increased synaptic availability of serotonin in people with depression, if this was the original, causal abnormaly. However, effects of prior antidepressant use were not reliably excluded. One meta-analysis of tryptophan depletion studies found no effect in most healthy volunteers (n = 566), but weak evidence of an effect in those with a family history of depression (n = 75). Another systematic review (n = 342) and a sample of ten subsequent studies (n = 407) found no effect in volunteers. No systematic review of tryptophan depletion studies has been performed since 2007. The two largest and highest quality studies of the SERT gene, one genetic association study (n = 115,257) and one collaborative meta-analysis (n = 43,165), revealed no evidence of an association with depression, or of an interaction between genotype, stress and depression. The main areas of serotonin research provide no consistent evidence of there being an association between serotonin and depression, and no support for the hypothesis that depression is caused by lowered serotonin activity or concentrations. Some evidence was consistent with the possibility that long-term antidepressant use reduces serotonin concentration.

    sometimes, it's like this.
when a person suffers a broken leg,
some folks might give him a pair of crutches,
while others might bring him to an orthopedic surgeon, for surgery.

    different approach,
    similar outcome (increased mobility).

that's how medicine is, at times.
we may not know the ultimate mechanism,
but we sure do well in symptomatic relief.

He said it's been diagnosed as brought on by work related stress daw.

i have personally experienced the "panic attack".
i had no control over it, even as, in my learned mind, i knew it was just a panic attack.
it felt as real as can be.

I polished the hardware of my bag for 5 HOURS straight just to keep myself occupied.

I've been taking Escitalopram for more than a month now. Yesterday and today, I feel so drained and just want to sleep.
Kagabi nag panic attack din ako, felt cold inside and sweat. Happened to me before naman so alam ko na hindi ibang sakit.

Took alprazolam and slept well last night.
    Ang hirap lang din!

I think I need professional help already. My mood swings are getting worse. One day I am happy then the next I am miserable. I am scared to take meds because it's alters the brain diba? I watch a lot of Forensic Files and Crime documentaries and I saw an episode where a teenager killed his own family, only explanation nila was he abruptly stopped a mental health related drug. One side effect yung hallucinations kasi the kid was telling na the devil or whatever entity pushed him to kill his family

Yeah it does make you sometimes sleepy & lethargic. One thing I like about that meds is that it gives me very lucid dreams.
