XE ideal idling

Whats the ideal idling of corolla XE? would 800 be fine? my current idling is 1k, 900 rpm without the aircon. I intend to adjust at 800, then adjust the actuator also at 800 when aircon is on.

I sold my GL 3 weeks ago and bought this 2000 XE. I already had it tuned, well except that idling is at 900 and 1k when A/C is on. I noticed that fuel efficiency is hardly felt compared to my previous 16 valve. I have the same route everyday,and still the same amount of gas is spent on a two day trip. I fill 500 pesos good for two days. My air cleaner is also new, clutch as well.

I miss the power of a 16 valve!!!

medyo mataas nga idling, pacheck distributor baka advance masyado ang setting. bka you drive it like 16V e lalakas nga sa gas hehe joke lang sir

thanks sir joey. di naman sya advanced, tama lang daw sabi ng mechanic ko saka di naman mabigAT paa ko sa gas. ang pansin ko lang, iba ang hatak ng 16v pag arangkada mo 1st to 2nd gear.pitik pitik lang ako sa gas lalo na tumaas na naman yata gas. di kaya it has something to do sa mags? size 16 gamit ko sa XE with 50 series tires. inisip ko lang na baka medyo may bigat ang rims to be driven.other than that, wala na.

la naman cguro sa size ng mags, konti lang ang discrepancy ng circumference ng 16x50 at 14x65 nd weight also.
Ang XE yan ang matipid at the same time may reasonble power at 2nd gear na dka bibitinin wag lng sa tlgan alanganin overtake.
maganda sana malaman mo history ng engine sa previous owner (kung sasabihin nga lang niya) baka nagalaw na nila ang loob ng engine and wala sa tamang specs nung pagbalik like sa valve lash (dont remember lang hydraulic type ata xe), sa timing belt, pag reinstall ng distributor.
may frend nagpalit ng timing belt,mga oil seal, tensioner, clutch assy at distributor oilseal sa kanyang XE after that nagbago ang takbo at idle tama lang, malinis at tahimik ung engine even at high speed walang palya ang problem lang eh bumigat ung takbo ( as in medyo piga' ang apak m sa gas pedal)
By visual inspection sa distributor slot(ung 2 12mm anchor bolts ng distributor) wala s proper position ng konti compare to other XE engines. paqadjust to proper position wild pa ang takbo so we assume ders smething wrong sa ginawa or pagbalik ng parts ng mekaniko niya.
b4 we could open n check the setting ng distribtor sa camshaft and setting ng timingbelt e nabenta ung auto niya,masaya pa raw ung buyer even ng roadtest smooth daw ang takbo (d kaya yan ang XE mo? hehe jok! that was 4yrs ago).
maganda ung may konting knwledge sa performance ng bawat type ng engine gaya mo nararamdaman mo ders smething not right! pero sa iba icip lang nila e normal lang. but little knwledge is dangerous" mrami kang maccra hehe

have you checked your spark plugs recently...try having them cleaned as well.

medyo OT guys, yung big screw (kulay silver cover) where i adjust idling ng car ko e parang maluwag. napapalitan ba yun? parang ginalaw sa casa last time, napitpit at lumuwag, idling ko hirap na i-adjust.

yun din ginawaa ng mechanic ko, pinitpit so he could adjust the idling. i will check the spark plug din if it needs cleaning

In addition, i just noticed that the cables are Splitfire. Malakas ba pumudpod ng plugs ito?
