I was wondering what is the proper way to check the engine oil level, dapat ba pag umaga i check, yung tipong di mo pa stinastart? o istart muna and then ioff tapos saka check.

i usually check on it sa umaga, nakapatay pa ang makina.. bago ko istart... check on the color of the oil and if hanggang saan nalang siya.. kung nababawasan ba mabilis.. or may leak na..

to get the correct reading, the vehicle should be on a level spot. with the engine at operating temperature and turned OFF, wait say 5-10 minutes to let the oil drain back into the bottom and then check the oil level on the dipstick...

pull it out, wipe it clean, reinsert as far as it will go, then pull it out again and look at the fluid level on the end..

hehe... parang iba na yata meaning nun ah..

    yup... wait 5-10 minutes...

maraming nagogoyo sa mga gasoline station sa ganyan. nung papunta akong batanggas, sinubukan ko lang ipa-check just for the fun of it (at di ko naman gawain ang ganun).

ayun, according to the dipstick... 1/4 ang kulang ko... sabi nung gasoline boy dagdagan na raw. sabi ko naman eh kaka change oil ko pa lang sa casa. sabi nya, ganun daw talaga kapag kakachange oil pa lang... nababawasan (huh?).

pagdating namin ng batanggas, after resting the vehicle for a while, chineck ko. back to normal ulit.

oil travels inside the engine when in use, so it does not stay in the oil pan/catch(forget the exact term) underneath the engine. and of course, if engine is off, the oil drains back to the oil pan, that is where the dipstick reads the level of the oil.

if lumagpas sa full level ang reading, maybe you have overfill it. its not that harmfull but on your next change oil, better be sure to fill it just right.

    lutang pa ko

That's right! Kaya mas magandang mag check ng oil level pag umaga, before starting your engine.

IMHO, overfilling your engine with oil may not cause harm to it but will affect its performance . . . Sa experience kasi namin ay medyo hirap humatak pag "lunod" yung makina sa langis.

Mga sirs, try running on a knee deep water. tignan kung gaano kahirap. this is comparable to an engine overfilled with lube oil.

imho, mas ok saken yung warm up the engine muna then let the oil drain back. then check the oil level
