If looking for a semi-synthetic blend, I would suggest Shell Helix HX7 5w40. I got it before for around P250 per liter.

I have also used Valvoline NextGen 10w40 and it was even cheaper at 1200 for a 5-quart container (Ace Hardware).

It will be a bit thick in viscosity against products of the same price, unless you have a very old gas engine. You better go with Shell Helix HX7 5w40 or Zic X7 10w40.

They say the only reason not to use synthetic or semi-synthetic in an old engine because it might leak due to old seals .. but my 4afe oil seals are new, camshaft seal, sparkplug seal, etc ..

Hindi ba rin pwede mag synthetic ?? Hindi ba pwede sa engine ko ang masyadong manipis like 5w30 ?? How about 5w40 ??

If your car’s engine requires it, then use it. I use 5w30 fully synthetic on my turbo cars.

For an older engine, better use the 10w-40 than the 5w-30. The higher viscosity oil (i.e. 10w-40) has better film strength for hot ambient temperatures like ours.

sometimes, the specification for thinner oil has to do with its better ability to squeeze itself into the minute oil passages of the engine, compared to heavier oils.
