Motul is one of the best oils out there, Has a strong additive package especially zinc and phosphorus. I even rock the Motul patch on my Motorcycle jacket

The Motul probably runs smoother because it has over 1000ppm of zinc in the CRDI oils and the super high amount of moly that's in it, The more zincand moly the better the lubrication and start up protection, the quieter the lifters will also be as well.

Can't go wrong with Motul, never seen a bad oil analysis on any of theres. This has less of a add package than turbo diesel oil but it's still off the charts.

Compare that to Mobil1 extended performance

hhhhhmmmm......So Doc, how come Mobil 1 TDT has a higher API rating than motul? when its clear that from the test figures you posted motul has better additives that can make the engine perform better?

I for one, recently switched to Mobil 1 TDT from motul Crdi specific, as per my observation there seems to be no difference at all with the performance....maybe it will be evident on my next oil change...

bro whistler, kamusta observation mo sa engine? mas ok ba talaga motul compare to TDT? hehe....grabe kasi pricing ngayun ng motul....I don't find it worth it na hehe...

All API SM rated oil must meet the 800 PPM limit zinc but Motul 300V does not carry an API rating as high so it can have whatever it wants as far as Zinc/ZZDP goes. Redline and Amsoil also do not carry the rating. I LuquiMoly is in that catagory to.

These are all still good oils.

Just went to MOA Ace Hardware to confirm fake Purolators, and I think they do sell them fake stuff. They have only the bottom plastic as well. Its' P499. Vic C-313 is sold at P900+!!!

However, the air filter seems made of good stuff.

Just putting something to rest about the so called official Fleetguard dealer there. Looks like they are stating the filters are made in Singapore (Fleetguard has no plant in Singapore) only distribution centers)

    This is directly from Fleetguard.

7.5.3.4. Each label (both master and box) sent to Fleetguard from the internal and external
supplier will contain the following fields:
    a. Item Number* (Fleetguard Item Number)
    b. Description
    c. QTY* (master label - Load and box label - Box Qty)
    d. Supplier Name
    e. Unit of Measure (UOM)*
    f. Date (Date of label printing)
    g. Initials (Log-on ID of person printing label: for internal warehouse use only)
    h. Serial Number*- (if required by BOM or other relevant documents)
    i. Lot Number* - (if required by Purchasing or other relevant agreements)
    j. PO Number* (not required on box labels for Fleetguard/internal produced products)
    k. Made in “Country of Origin” - This field will reflect the country that manufactured the
    product

    * Indicates barcoded information
You can find it here. http://www.fleetguard.com/pdf/about_..._standards.pdf

Here are the only countries of origin for Fleetguard.

Fleetguard, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Cummins, Inc., has a total of 5,500 employees working out of 22 production plants around the world. In addition to 11 plants in the US, it has manufacturing facilities in Mexico, Brazil, England, France, South Africa, India, Australia and Shanghai Fleetguard in China.
Even the ones that are made in China say Made in China and are fully wrapped in plastic not just the bottoms.

They also have Chinese writing on them.

Purolators are only made in Mexico, Canada and the US as far as I know. Plus no country of origin = fake. Can't get around that one. Someone high up got these into the supply systems. Ace has a contract with Fram/Honeywell to sell the Fram and Defense oil filters don't see why that would not apply there as well. The only Purolators they carry are aircon filters.

But will they work? Probably so, but why are they P499. and the Vic C-313 P900 that's the question you should ask yourself especially for a basically US Brand oil filter that has to be shipped half way around the world to get there.

But obviously they sell them and they perform the function of filtration but you will never know how well or if the specs are truly right.

Here's the specs on that filter
    Specifications: Anti-Drain Back Valve No Height 4.98 O.D. 4.06 Relief Valve P.S.I. 15 Threads M26x1.5-6H Type of Filter Spin-on
A simple measurement can also give you a heads up about if it's original or not.

Back to fleetguard these are all the Manufacture sites and there certifications

Might have found a alternate place for Fleetguard filters.

If you look on page 8 of the PDF they have a number and address and a person to contact about Fleetguard filters and Fakes. They actually took out almost a full page ad in one of the papers there warning against fakes.

    http://www.fleetguard.com/pdfs/produ...re_nl_6-08.pdf

I also verified and sent up a formal complaint about Pacer to Cummings Filtrations, The stated over and over all filters will have a country of origin and all will be fully wrapped in plastic this is there required specifications.

So one of 2 things will happen Pacer will loose there Vendorship, or they will be forced to carry the real ones only and give you guys a worry free place locally to get a quality filter. We will see what becomes of it. I also contacted Singapore who is the regional distributor of fleetguard for South east Asia. Which pacer claims they get there filters.

And you still have this place which I have not heard anything about yet form any forum members.

That's why I didn't buy the Purolator fae oil filter. At least the air filters are made in USA so that what I bought. Will check Volmax or Warren Auto Supply on Sat. hehe

BTW, CRDI Starex air filter si the same size as that of oval filters of Pajero JDM and maybe other mitsu cars.

It is along the service road opposite alabang or the side of manuela. I saw it when I was on my way home from the south (so it would be on the side of the north bound)

Hopefully you guys running junk VIC or fakes on your vehicles will be a thing of the past. Everyone should have access to the best filtration they can get with harsh conditions in the Philippines.

With the price disparity between Vic and Purolator, magtataka ka na talaga eh. hehe.

Good that you returned it, it's definitely fake. The rubber is of not of high quality talaga just by the look and feel. Mas ok pa Vic.

Thanks for the links doc. iL try to check HO site.

Right now im using Baldwin for my lube, iL open it after 5k to see how well it filtered the 10k kms motul.

Good thing is that aside from stealership, i still could buy the OEM(w/c i think is also good) from retailers .

    From right to left

-Mann Lube filter is made in Germany but B233 is larger by few mm
-Secondary Filter is made in Argentina, and i still could not find aftermarket replacement due to its unique design (stand-pipe and rolled-media, stand-pipe from Baldwin has pleated media).
-Primary Filter made in Japan - apparently there are two OEM PN# in the market but the navara uses a color green(improved) media..

For now in my application, i dont see any advantage of Fleetguard vs Baldwin. All i know is they are both good and price is almost the same.. Not unless an independent test could prove w/c is better (like efficiency on single/multi-pass, flow rate, clean pressure drop), iL try to stick with the most available filter.

Fleetguard and Baldwin are pretty equal, Baldwin harder to find in the Philippines though.

Need a favor, I am trying to take care of the ACE hardware Purolator issue, What I need is a Photo of a filter from there with a clear shot of the top of the filter to see if there is a date stamp on the top of the filter as well as a shot of the filter it self.

Let's see if we can force them to sell the real deal as well. I am in communication with the Associate Product Manager here in the states to get this issue resolved.

I was not able to take pictures of the top last wednesday but I did notice a stamp on top of it. Unfortunately also, no L45262 was available for 4M40. Just the L34750 for 4D56 engines although thread is about the same comparing with the available Vic oil filter.

Hope you can persuade them indeed to carry genuine ones! It's a shame for SM.

No problem, I'm sure someone will get the pics we need, They are able to track the code vs the filter number and can determine just about everything from there.

So if your at SM and got a few minutes guys get some 360 pics of a purolator with the plastic only at the bottom since we know those are the fakes. So the company can take action.

    *dvldoc,

Can you comment on Magnetized Oil Trap? is it effective? can it help on the cleaning of dirt in oil?

I read a column about it and there are some makers like The Bear Trap and FILTERMAG. In that column, it says also that you can use a magnet from the PC Hard Disk.

Remote bypass oil filtration
