    Good day fellow members!

I'm new here at Tsikot.com and I hope someone here can help me with my problem. I own a Mitsubishi Lancer EL 1994 ("Itlog" as most people say) and my carburetor is killing me with poor gas consumption. My brother used the car one time and he said the Mixture Adjusting Screw (MAS) was missing and I don't know how it happened. I went to shops around here (La Union) to buy a spare but they don't seem to have it or they don't really know what it is. Some say I have to buy the whole repair kit but it seems that the MAS in the repair kit was different and won't fit. I tried surplus shops in Baguio and Pangasinan but they won't sell it unless I get the whole engine.

I really don't have any idea how the MAS looks like. If only I could have a detailed picture of it so I can make the shops see and compare what they are selling with that of the picture. Or can someone please tell me where I can buy a carburetor repair kit in Baguio, Dagupan or in Manila so I can visit if I will have some time.

By the way, my carb is a Variable Venturi Type. Thank you and hoping for a quick response.

    Chief,

Maybe your engine is running rich, check your sparkplug if it is filled with soot. From what I know, removing your adjusting screw would stall your vehicle. In your case, I might be wrong, but it may not be the adjusting screw that is missing. Better have your carb checked by a specialist, not just a technician who knows the principle of a carburetor, but a real specialist. I'm from the south but tsikoteers are mentioning that the Kamuning Carb shop is good, better see for yourself though.

Good luck & hoping your problem be resolved soon! Cheers!

Thanks for the response and insight jvnj. Problem is, I don't know anyone around our place who is a specialist when it comes to carburetors. Yeah, the exhaust smells a bit rich on fuel. Maybe I'll ask around and see if I can find a close-to-specialist mechanic. Thanks again! =)

I suggest mag member ka sa mitsulancerph club, mas maraming expert doon and as far as I can remember may DIY carb disassembly sa DIY section. I'm sure magiging useful sa iyo yon.

    Dear Sir:

You will need to provide us with the name, type, model and specifics of your carburetor before we can make any recommendations.

Offhand, I would say you need to buy the complete repair kit to get that part that is missing.

I am pretty confident that going to Banawe and asking around the Mistubishi dealers there (try Carline) will be successful.

    Good luck.

    Best Regards,

    Dusky Lim
