Would it be ok to change oil at 500 kms and then again at 1800 or 2000 km. Here's the situation. Planning to do a 1,700 km road trip using a 2011 Toyota Hiace 2.5 D4D diesel engine. Before the road trip, the Hiace would have logged about 100-150 kms already, so would have clocked 1800 km by the time we reach our final destination.
So the question is, would it be ok to change oil and filter at 500-600 km and then have it serviced again at Toyota at 1700 km (just to preserve warranty)? We could also bring our own oil and oil filter and have it serviced at 800-1000 km along the way but that would affect the trip schedule so we are avoiding this option.

Factory fill oil is nothing special, it will show extra zinc in it from assembly lube. So changing it early effects nothing. But with as crazy as the dealers can be there they might try to void your warranty because you had it changed early so I would check with them first.

If you ask me, better to change earlier than later. Have it done at 500kms then bring it in for the 5,000 service at the proper time.
