January 30th, 2015 07:31 PM #4i think the problem of over-filling with oil, is that the crankshaft's reciprocating arms might reach into the oil and act as an egg-beater. the oily foam that is generated might be sucked up by the oil pump. this oil-and-air mix may not provide adequate lubrication protection to the metal parts..
it is true that modern oils include an anti-foam additive... but why tempt fate?
