October 2nd, 2010 01:53 PM #1Hi all !
Ride is a corolla lovelife 2000 xl. Had my muffler replaced about two years back. Just found out today that may butas na ang muffler so am now in the market to replace it. Just looking for plain-jane mufflers. Stock would be best. Have a few questions.
1. Other than stainless, what other material can a muffler be made of ? What's the pros and cons of the different materials ?
2. Is 2 years a short life for a muffler ? I mean, is it normal to replace it every 2 years or so ?
3. As far as shops are concerned, I see many backyard shops doing mufflers. I see many recommend CPM or Nodalo's. Is this the type of auto part that requires honed skills or welding lang naman yan ? I'm thinking CPM or Nodalo's might do a better job aesthetically. I could be wrong though. Need your inputs on this. My main concerns are quietness & durability. Not after the looks.
4. How much would a regular muffler cost these days ? including installation, of course.
Thanks in advance.

October 2nd, 2010 05:26 PM #2Mufflers are usually made of either stainless steel or black iron. Others are made of 16-gauge galvanized iron. I would go for the stainless steel or the galvanized iron coz of it's long life than black iron. CPM and Nodalo's are good when it comes to mufflers' durability. If you go for fuel efficiency, go for the quiet one; for more speed & power, go for the noisy one.
I'm not sure about their pricing these days, but probably they may go for 2k up..depends on the type of muffler.
2 years is short (for me), maybe around 3 yrs or so for the lifespan.

Last edited by NiCe2KnowU; February 16th, 2016 at 02:46 PM.

February 16th, 2016 05:05 PM #10Marami talagang nag muffler para mag pa sikat. Pero para sa akin for our safety na mapansin na pa dating na auto ko kasi maliit auto ko.. tipid talaga ako mag busina. Minsan talaga may taong nagagalit pag binubusinahan.
.
Panu ba e test yun sir? Pwd ba e kabit then papakingan muna. Pag ayaw ng tunog. Pwd pili ng iba?
