No need. Are you relatively comparing oil levels under same conditions....like x minutes after engine off or prior to day's 1st start? If not, you can't have an accurate read on consumption, if ever it's happening. Are you sure your last oil change had it on F?...or... You probably have been zoom-zoomin' like Hamilton, ray bai.[emoji4]Different cars behave differently. I recall our gen2 CRV burnt more than a liter every 4k since new. My brother & cousin had the same model, burnt same. The V8 LC200s, worse. The Skyactivs....never seen levels drop yet.The rotary was known for that, not the Skyactivs. 5w-30 is factory recommendation for the tropics, 0w-20 for temperate regions.

Used Zic X7 5w30 on my Mazda 3 for this oil change. Last year I used Shell 0w30. Saved almost 2k this time since I had the change done at the friendly neighborhood talyer that had a proper lift. OEM filters were used for both. Checked and rechecked the oil level last night and this morning and it's just below max when filled with 1 gallon of oil.
Wife immediately noticed the difference when she took it out this morning. Mukhang humataw na naman!
Chatted with the Mazda parts guy while queued at the cashier. He said that they use 5w30 while the car is under Yojin3. After that they use 15w40 by default unless otherwise instructed.Last edited by JohnM; January 28th, 2020 at 09:58 AM.
