knocking sound at cold start

lately everytime that i start my car in the morning i hear a knocking sound. but once the car reaches its operating temperature nawawala na yung knocking sound. is there something wrong with my engine? im a newbie so ur answer will be very much appreciated.

natural lang po yan sir dahil malamig pa kahit yung van ko ganyan din pero diesel yun..

looks like a classic case of a Piston Slap. but then, just to make sure, have your Oil Pressure checked and also, how many miles does your engine have? did it just happen recently or is it been doin it for a while now?

baka naman nadidinig mo lang yung lagitik ng tappets, during cold start minsan maingay talaga yung mga mga tappets parang napitik lalo na pag malamig ang panahon... sa diesel engines common yan lalo na pag medyo luma na makina.. sa gas engine na experience ko din yan sa mazda 323 ko DOHC engine... medyo madidinig mo na parang may napitik sa loob.. mahina lang naman pero pag uminit na mawawala din..

what engine? it shouldn't be noisy. what oil are you using? minsan the wrong viscosity causes the noise till the oil heats up.
