Gurus, I just want to know your opinion(s) on this. Is it necessary? Is it bad for the engine if you turn it off after long hours of driving?

    its up to you.

Habit ko na rin ito, idle before switching off. But not too long, about 1 minute maybe. Advisable particularly after a long drive. Some experts say its bad for the engine parts to suddenly stop after a long haul. Another habit of mine is to turn off AC also before switching off the engine. Likewise pag start, fan lang muna ang AC. But I noticed sa forester, fan lang talaga initially then gradually lumalakas. Perhaps subaru sees the logic in it

Besides letting the engine idle for a few minutes upon reaching my destination, I also drive non-aggresively when I am 5 to 10 mins away from destination. I also drive a turbocharged vehicle.

Naging habit ko na din ang ganito. Pero I see to it na around 30 seconds to
1 minute lang naka idle para di sayang sa gas.

what if ganito situation mga sir?

long drive (2 hrs) mixed traffic plus unti hataw when you can..
THEN you enter the subdivision, where slow ka lang due to multiple stupid humps, mga 10 mins til you get to your house..

Do you still need to idle for a minute? or ok na cool down na yung 10 mins sa loob ng subdivision?

^you don't need to unless naka turbo ka, pero again if meron kang turbo siguro nagpakabit ka na rin ng turbo timer.

stock engine, sayang lang time and money (gasoline) walang difference yan sa nag warm up muna ng engine before leaving..parehong sayang oras and pera.

hinde naman pag off mo ng engine eh biglang drop na ang temperature eh, gradually pa rin naman lalamig ang engine so doesn't make sense to me.

sorry for seemingly ignorant question, but by "turbo", do you mean yung intercooler turbo ng let's say gen1 pajero and/or vgt ng montero gls-v?
OR is it a different kind of turbo na aftermarket? pasensya na mga boss, not an expert on automobiles

Idle before turn-off engine after long hours of driving
