i just start mine with a turn of the key. no need to press the gas pedal before starting... wait for 30 seconds, kiss the yaya goodbye and i'm off...
mabagal nga lang ang takbo on the first few kilometers..
hehehe...joke lang po yung sa yaya..
As for the trooper, here's a technique for cold start ups in the morning. After the glow plug coil (tama ba ang description?) and the abs warning lights go off, a "tick" sound will be heard after 1-1.5 secs. Wait for that sound before turning the key. Mas madaling magstart ang engine. In the middle of the day, the sound will not be noticeable as it will sound at the same time as the warning lights go off. HTH
with my corolla, I simply turn the key, wait for a short while (20-30 seconds) for oil to circulate then drive off slowly until the engine has warmed up to normal temp (based on the temp guage).
in my opinion, just read your car manual. Some car has different techniques on cold start. On Fuel Injections, you usually wait until the engine light warning indicator goes off, then start the car.
On carbuerator engines, it depends on how old, but some needs the owner to press the gas pedal once, then start to fuel the carb.
For diesel, wait for the glow plugs warning light to turn off, then start.
This I do to with our fairly new cars... With our Crosswind i engage the choke for around 30 secs to 1 minute as well before driving off since the vibration is strong when the engine is cold.Originally Posted by ghosthunter
Me, I turn the key, let the engine run on idle for about 30 seconds (I listen to find "unusual" noises while idling), then I'm off. Six hours? That's a short span of time. Now, if it's six days, then you need to probably follow what the manual says.
I just simply start the wait a couple of seconds after I switch to "on" then start... am on my way.
Start and drive (slowly).

sa ride ko, i turn the key up to on position and wait for a second or two so that all the red warning light start to bright up. and wait for the whosh sound to stop, then turn all the way to crank the engine, ksi if i just turn it all the way minsan ayaw magstart kaagad. and have to depress the pedal. By the way my ride is a 1.4 ex nissan model.
