Hard starting

So many existing threads about hard starting so will just revive this one.

I have a 1999 Pajero Fieldmaster. Battery was newly replaced. Alternator not so new but tested ok naman. Every morning when i start the engine, it goes with one click... then the engine warms up. Problem is after 30 seconds to a minute, the engine starts "coughing" or "dying" matched with some spurts of smoke from the exhaust and eventually dies.

When i try to restart it... it won't na unless i step on the gas pedal and pump. Tapos when it finally starts, you would really need to pump the gas pedal repeatedly (smoke keeps on coming out of the exhaust) to keep it going until it can run smoothly on its own.

This only happens in the morning upon starting it after a long rest. The rest of the day, this won't happen again.

Injection pump nayan. Yan ang sakit ng 4M40 na Pajero FM. I just paid Central Diesel 21.5K dahil sa ganyan sakit ng FM ko.

Glow plugs

Haven't checked this yet... but kasi ok naman yung initial start sa umaga one click lang kaya i doubt it's the glow plug.

Fuel pump? ...

Medyo leaning on this just like what nelany said...

try mo sir prime yung fuel filter pump bago niyo start sa umaga. kapag nawala problem niya, possible may leak sa fuel line/s

naging ganyan sakin, luma na kasi mga hose clamp sa fuel lines, pinalitan ko ng screw type clamps (stainless steel)

+1 din sa glow plug.

Tried checking kanina... may little oil leak drops sa ilalim where it's parked.

Thanks for this... i tried to search injection pump pajero sa net and meron nga same din ang nangyayari... mausok din. So i guess i need to prepare budget for replacing this.. any consequence if i postpone replacing it and live with the repeated gas pumping na lang every morning until i get budget to replace it?

Kaka change oil ko lang din.... nakaka 3k pa lang takbo from last change oil.

Pareho parin meron oil leak na nanggagaling sa area ng injection pump. You can still use it until you have the budget para sa calibration at repair ng injection pump mo. It will just get worst nga lang katagalan.

The cal at repair were just done last week.

Injection pump na yan. Pero sa akin P5K lang nagastos ko sa OH. Medyo mura pa dito sa province pagawa eh. Parang o-ring lang kasi between injection pump at diesel engine yung may leak kaya engine oil is contaminating the fuel. Palit na din fuel pump pala kasi naging madumi na.

Helo mga sirs. Hirao start ng sasakyan ko. Efi. Nagpalit na ako fuel pump, linis gas tank, palit fuel filter. Everytime na start ko kailangan pa ichoke sa throttle body then pag matagal ng nagamit then off then on 1 click naman pero pag kinabukasan ko na start ganun ulit kailangan ulit takpan un throttle body para umistart. Ok un maf sensor kapag hinuhugot ko un socket namamatay engine. Ano at saan kaya ang problem? Thanks.

Yung vacuum hose sa preno ay pinalitan din kasi malutong na. Ang mahal ng vacuum hose na me check valve sa loob, 4.5k.
Yung fuel filter ay dala ko pa at hindi pa pinalitan yung glow plug since ok pa yung Bosch na nakakabit sa kanya.

Ganyan daw ang sakit ng 4M40 na makina sabi ni Central Diesel. Yung 4M41 na makina mas madugo ang cal and repair, will cost 70K sa kanila.
