#3 Cylinder loose comression Help!!!

1. Cars has loose compression #3 cylinder after compression test
2. Acceleration is good
3. No white smoke
4. Only effect is poor gas consumption im getting 5-6km/liter


Please advise what to do

Car: Honda Esi 1993 PH16 engine (all stock)

Who did the compression test, ano detalye ng resulta for each cylinder. siguraduhin lang natin na tama yung testing at interpretation.

BTW, poor fuel economy lang ba talaga reason kaya ka nagpa-compression test.

kung #3 cylinder lang ang problema, I suggest na i-check mo muna yung valve clearance dun mismo sa cylinder na may problema. baka kasi may ndi lapat ang valves kaya may singaw. dapat nasa specification siya. search mo sa net yung tamang gap at dapat malamig ang makina pag i-adjust ng mekaniko.

pag mababa pa din compression pagkatapos ng valve clearance adjustment, baka kailangan na baklasin ang cylinder head para ma-check mo yung condition na valves, gasket, at yung sleeve ng cylinder. pwede din siguro makita dito kung papalitin na ang piston ring (ouch, mahal)

btw, same tayo ng kotse na gamit (sa asawa ko actually) pero A/T yung sa amin. normal na yung 6km/liter sa amin pag paikot ikot lang then pag sa highway 9-10km/liter. sakit sa bulsa.

Sana, pina-wet compression test mo para ma-verify kung piston nga me singaw.

kung hindi nagawa,pa-leakdown test mo muna para malaman kung saan talaga yung singaw.

Kung sa valves lang, meron mga naglilinis ng combustion chamber without removing the head.

just want some clarification,

not too sure about this but hindi ba dapat nasa ideal temp ang makina kapag nag adjust ng valve? hindi dapat malamig?

in some engines, they have spec for hot and cold valve clearances.

if i am not mistaken, in the repair manual i used as i guide to adjust the valve clearance of a PH16, they specified the engine must be "cold" (let to stay cool overnight).

also, i think it will be difficult working with the valves if it is in normal operating temperature.

maybe nga in some engines, in my Lancer 4G92 kasi when we adjust the valves pinapainit muna namin yung makina, then turn-off, then let it cool a bit, then we open it and do the adjustment while the engine is still warm.

well anyway, different engines, different treatment I guess.

all valve clearances should be adjusted only when the engine is cold to the touch or below 100 deg F. any manual will tell you as much.

thermal expansion and all that. any decent mechanic will know that.
