My wife's 2006 A/T Aveo suddenly came to a halt in a middle of an intersection, she was able to start it again and bring it to a near gasoline station, where someone checked at says something wrong with air filer or fuel injection. Apparently you can start the engine, but it will have to stay on neutral, once you engage it to D, the engine halts.

i know this will require a mechanic, but was wondering what happened? a dirty fuel? heavy rains + floods affected the engine? the E10 maybe?

Will it stay alive if you rev it in D? Since it's a 2006, isn't it still in warranty? You should have the casa check it.

It could be the air-filter, MAF or the idle controller or vacuum system. Or a couple of other things. Easiest to check would be the air filter (just clean it or replace it) and the MAF (spritz it with electra electrical contact cleaner (silicone based, no residue)).

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

your car needs to get it scanned by the dealer to know if it's the tranny or engine problem.

Its not the engine, injector or filter are the problem. Your car start, so strike that out.

Possible the Torque Convertor Clutch Solenoid in the transmission is problem. Its a common hot failure for some transmission.
Bring it to a good repair shop and have your car scan it for you. If that is the problem its an easy fix and at the same time have it change the filter and fluid
Most TCC solenoid is located in the side cover pan not in the bottom pan by the filter.

Hmmm...I've got a similar problem on my 97 Accord A/T.

Apparently, when the engine is hot, the D4 light starts blinking, meaning something is wrong with the tranny. At D4, medyo hirap humatak coming from a stop, so I have to shift down to 2 or L, to get it moving. But once it hits 40kmh, ok na ang hatak (but the D4 light still blinks).

It's irritating seeing it blink all the time while I'm driving, so I sometimes pull over, stop the engine and restart it after 10 seconds. Di na siya nagbi-blink, pero occasionally, pag uminit ulit, nagbi-blink na.

Am thinking it must be related to the transmission solenoid, an electrical problem. Kasi other than the hatak problem at D4, ok naman ang performance.

When shifting to D, does the vehicle lurch forward before dying? In other words, does the engine stall or just shuts off?

fuel injection problem or air filter problem
