Timing Belt

I owned a 2004 Optra 1.6L which i bought brand new from the casa in 2004. The chevy dealers have a promo up to Dec 31, 2010 for replacing the timing belt and tensioner for only P5.500+. My question is, would you have it changed considering that it has only runned for 30,200km?. PLEASE ADVISE, Tsikoteers. thanks

Optra timing belt only is 4k plus, and while at it, you should replace the tensioner also. Replacement interval I think is around 35-40,000 kms so it would be best to have them replaced because sometimes belts don't last until their service dates. You'll never know when they would finally surrender.
If at P5,500 inclusive of labor, ok na. Nakatipid ka sa tensioner, labor and towing charge later!

desert fox: The timing belt is P2800 and the tensioner is P2400 (quote from thunder), for total price of P5200. Lumalabas P300+ lang labor.

ericbalajadia: The manual recommends 60,000km or 3yrs. For peace of mind, i am seriously thinking of having it replaced. I also need to replaced idler pulley and water. Nabili ko narin ito from thunder. Gawin ko na lang spare yung papalitang tensioner, idler, and water pump.

replace the cam and crank seals while you're at it narin. para isang gawaan nalang.
