the usual specs sa radiator is 50% tubig and 50% coolant. afaik, kung tubig lang, magiging prone to rust yung loob ng radiator mo, not to mention na syempre, mas mababa boiling point ng tubig, mas prone to overheat ang car mo. remember that water boils and evaporates at around 100 degrees centigrade, and your car engine's temperature goes beyond that.
kung napapadalas ang lagay mo ng coolant, hindi dapat ganun. coolants don't easily evaporate and nandyan lang yan sa loob ng radiator mo. always follow the 50% 50% ratio.

Hindi pareho ang timpla ng formulas ng mga coolants depending on their brands. Kaya iba iba rin ang ratio ng mixtures ng tubig.
Basta huwag lalampas ng 50% coolant kasi masyado nang matapang yun. As much as possible. Kalahati lang ng dapat ng amount ng tubig ang coolant or even less pa (~40%).
Kapag walang coolant, kakalawangin ang internals ng cooling system. Coolant is not only a coolant. It is also a lubricant and anti-corrosive agent.
Dapat once a year (or even less) ka lang mag lagay/palit ng coolant. If you keep losing coolant. May problema ang sasakyan mo.

50% 50% yun. for every 1 part of coolant, add 2 parts of water.
hindi ah 50/50 meaning the same amount. 1:2 masmarami ang water. 1 part coolant 2 parts water, ilan percentage kaya.

1:2 ratio... i think is 1/3 coolant 2/3 water. so 33.33 percent lang ang coolant.
yeap tama nga sir roninblade.. but para d ka mahirapan bumili ka nlang ng coolant na no water needed na... alam ko may ganun
tnx sa mga feed ninyo ganun nga po gawa ko mixture ko 50:50 medyo mabilis madesolve kasi yung coolant im using the coolant from shell...ride is exsior 2li engine(4S-FE) ano po ba pwedeng pacheck pag ganitong mabilis madesolve ang coolant..pag plain water at pag may coolant konting diffence lang sa temp kasi ang pagkakaiba nya..

kahit ba gumagamit ka ng distilled water sa radiator mag rust parin ba ito? colant or distilled water alin mas ok gamitin?
pag distilled water ang gamit mo, hindi yun ganun ka prone sa rust at walang mineral deposits na nakakasira ng radiator in the long run. however, distilled water is STILL water, with normally 100 degress celsius boiling point if not pressurized. since radiator caps are presurrized (like around 15 psi), tataas ng konti ang boiling point nung distilled water mo. PERO, hindi pa rin katulad ng coolant (which is ethylene glycol afaik), and it has SIGNIFICANTLY higher boiling and freezing point. tama yung normal ratio na 50% coolant at 50% water or somewhere near those values.
Pag kasi water lahat (kahit distilled pa ito), madali uminit ang temp kasi nga ang boiling point eh nalalampasan pa ng init ng engine mo. what's good w/ distilled is that wala itong mineral deposits na pwede maipon sa radiator at kumalawang. Well kung nagtitipid ka talaga, pwede na rin as LONG as yung paggamit mo nung oto eh malalapit na distances lang, walang traffic masyado, at hindi mainit ang araw. Meaning, the ideal scenarios would be there is cool air circulating around w/ the help of aux fan and the acceleration of car which brings in air. Pag heavy traffic tapos tirik pa ang araw, tapos naka aircon ka sa loob (siyempre kasi nga mainit), maghantay ka na ng overheat. Lalo na kung tubig nawasa lang or worst tubig poso gamit mo, yari sa kalawang at deposits radiator mo, patay ka pa sa overheat. Pero kung sa Baguio or Tagaytay ka naman nakatira, eh pwede nang tubig nalang. Fast highway driving late night or madaling araw eh pwede na rin. Get my drift?
Pag naman coolant lahat or sobra dami coolant mo, hindi magiging efficient ang engine kasi matagal niya mararating ang recommended temp niya. Ang long term effect na ito ay mas iikli ang useful life niya, since hindi niya agad mararating recommended temp tuwing cold start, the oil also won't be thinned down to proper lubrication kasi nga hindi pa mainit habang simu circulate siya, so siyempre magwe weardown din mga internals ng engine due to buildup of friction. This friction creates heat yes, but at the expense of your engine parts. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong at this.

Kapag pure water mahina din ang lubricating properties nito. Your water pump needs lubrication.

thanks sa bagong kaalaman.................so better to use 50 distilled and 50 coolant...............gastos na naman ito............
kung gagamit ka na rin lang ng 100% distilled water, might as well use a coolant/distilled water mix (30/70 to 50/50 mixture will be fine for our winterless climate). hindi naman mahal yung coolant, at wag kang maniwala sa mga nagsasabing nakasisira ng makina o radiator yung coolant. remember, water is corrosive to aluminum, which is what radiators are made of.
actually, distilled water talaga dapat ipanghalo mo dun sa coolant. don't use tap water (maraming dissolved ions yun na babara sa radiator mo). one-time expense lang naman yan.

i don't think using 100% coolant will cause the engine to take a longer time reaching operating temperature. pure ethylene glycol has a higher boiling point, but that won't mean the engine will take longer to reach the proper temperature (since the operating temp of the engine isn't dictated by the boiling point of the coolant; the engine doesn't reach proper operating temp by boiling the coolant).
pure antifreeze is not recommended mainly because it has a higher freezing point than an aqueous solution (in fact, the lowest freezing point is achieved with a ~70%/30% mixture), among other reasons.

200+ yung coolant n 70+ for 6 liters of absolute distilled water.

sa toyota casa eh ang suggestion nila eh yung coolant na color red... kasi yung benta nila color red (toyota long life coolant)..
huwag daw gumamit ng coolant na yung color green dahil nakakasira daw ng radiator..
siguro marketing tactics lang nila.. yung prestone ata eh color green.. not sure with other brands..

regular ethylene glycol antifreeze is usually dyed green, yung iba red. orange yung usual dye ng mga long-life coolants. it's probably a bit of a stretch to say that the green stuff will kill a radiator.
ang alam kong maarteng radiator ay yung mga "Dex-Cool" radiators (like in some GM vehicles i think), which are specifically designed for use with dex-cool long-life coolants (orange)... not very sure about that though. pwede rin ata yung green stuff sa mga radiator na to, some people had problems with premature failure of dex-cool 5 yr/100K mile long-life coolants.
