corolla AE100 3sge engine swap

Guys, my friend is planning on an engine swap. nag drop by cya sa japan last summer and made a research on cars and engines there. he contacted me to canvass a 3sge engine here for his corolla ae100. I did naman some research here, and went to hongly sports here in sucat. thay have an available 3sge engine there, 3rd gen, 4 throttle, twincam 2000. Saw it with my own eyes, it was huge, tuned by Tom's. I forgot lang to bring a digital camera. Anyways, I'll post some pics of it soon. Price is around P85,000. engine only. We need to convert pa daw to 4 wheel disc brakes.

Is it a good buy? Best performance for racing? Fly wheel to improve perfomance?

You might want to check out other engines too like 4AGE 20v silvertop where you can have it for P50,000 for the engine,tranny and installation labor.

which one is better? the 3sge or the 4age variants? i wud also recommend the 4age's they are easy to maintain and the parts are readily available. my 2c

....i already saw an ae101 na naka 3sge. tropa ng hongly may dala (yung may-ari ng albertos). i think they made some major modification sa engine support dahil mabigat nga makina nito. the engine was so huge that it almost occupied the whole engine bay.

...like what the others said, kung sa corolla din lang stick with the 4age's. the corona would be a better home for the 3sge.

...yung nga lang, antapang talaga ng dating ng 3sge sa corolla.

uhhh... newbie question peeps. ano tong mga AE101 tsaka 3sge?

AE101 is the car model? 3SGE is the engine model?

AE86, AE89, AE101, AE111 are models of the Toyota Corolla

4AFE, 4AGE, 3SGE are engine types but there are subtype using the same designation like 4AGE 16valve, 20valve silvertop, 20valve blacktop,etc.

ok, i figured it out na (i think). i browsed through the manuals and documents that came with the car (a corolla le bought last nov 2002 - bnew) and i found out that it's body is an EE111 (tama ba 'to?). Ang hindi ko makita is yung engine code. Basta ang alam ko it's 1.3L, 16v yata. Anyone knows kung anong makina yung stock na nakalagay sa mga bagong 'rollas?

Or if u want to go all the way , check the 3SGTE of MR2's . ito yung turboed motor out of the factory . Nice engine for a AE86 car or the hachiroku . Not sure if ito ay kasya sa AE101 , might as well stick to 4AGE or 4AGEZ ( supercharged motor ) ng mga early MR2's . Not familiar with 3SGE , too JDM ito but for 80,000 pesos , mukhang mahal .

nakausap ko na yun owner sa hongly sports, kasya yun 3sge engine sa ae100 kasi nakapag kabit na sila. and besides the 4age engine is more than 10 yrs old. luma na masyado yun. and the black top model is so expensive, halos ka price na ng 3sge, wala pa 200hp yun. I'll post the 3sge engine pic soon.

4AGE ka na lang silver top o kaya black top..
May tanong ako pwede kaya high horse tapos ang head low horse o kaya vice versa?
Kung surplus nasa less than 10k ata ang weber pero kung brand new baka umabot ng 15k ata..
Canvas ka pa sa banawe o kaya sa evangelista baka makamura ka dun..
