    Good day ka-tskikots!

I have a Lancer Boxtype model which was a pamana from my grandad and also my first car. It seems may problem sa carburetor which is leaking fuel around the base sa may hole kung saan nakalagay yung throttle ata yun. May repair options pa ba yun or I'll need to buy a replacement carb? If so, where and around how much? Thanks!

Kala dun tumatagas.

Had that same experience before sa boxtype ko, nung sinubukan kong baklasin wala akong nakitang seals, I guess lumuwag na yung shaft casing (yung naghohold ng throttle valve) due to wear. Nagtanong tanong ako sa shops and they recommended na either bago o surplus. Pero that was way back 2006 pa

Mas matipid at mas responsive I to kes sa Aisin.

    salamat po.
perished gasket and/or loose screws, are a common cause of carburator leak.
    another cause is float mal-adjustment.
another would be float valve malfunction, i.e., dirt.
they may be repaired "relatively easily", or replaced if irreparable, provided spares are available.

errr... is your "leak" really a leak? or is it normal function? or is it the result of gas reservoir overflow due to float or valve malfunction?
if your leak is external, then it is definitely abnormal.

Yung repair kit may gaskets at replacement jets. Good luck

old carburators are sometimes difficult to service, because of lack of spare parts.
    kung gasket lang, madali 'yan.
use the old one as pattern, and make your own.
the materials are easily available from the well-stocked auto parts stores.

True, you just have to do the legwork & search. But it is definitely still available. One thing with the Aisin or Solex carbs of that model, it is easy to dismantle, clean, repair etc... because they are mechanical. It just works on levers. The ones I wouldn’t touch are the Nissan Sentra carbs. It has so many sensors to foul up.
Between the Aisin & the Solex, I prefer the latter. When I swapped the carb of my old box type to the Solex, fuel economy improved to 12km/ liter from 9. Thats why if you can get your hands on a Solex...
