(joke)

Seriously, it could be a number of things. Engine oil, fuel filter, calibration, etc. Care to give us a few more details, like:

i have no idea sa history ng car.. bought this second hand eh.. 3 weeks na sa akin..

pero i still wanna know what causes it?

pinaservice saan po? sa mitsubishi mismo?

    Mos likely "tope" yan.

If you havent done so, get a change oil and tune-up (change spark plugs and check timing). Where do you fuel up as well?

Tama si afrasay. Pa-check mo you valve clearances mo.

Check your exhaust, puti ba lumalabas na usok?

    Check/adjust valve timing?
    check/adjust air fuel mixture?
    check/adjust valve clearances?

    any parts na maaaring palitan?

newly replaced oil and spark plugs na nga pala siya..

Try using a higher octane fuel... see if it eliminates the engine knock or tope. Usually older cars require higher RONs.

Try mong magpakarga ng same fuel sa ibang gas stations (preferably newly opened ones and not located in flood prone areas), kung di umubra, try higher octane gas. Also, nung nagtune up ka, nagcheck ba ng valve clearance?

di po ako sigurado kung na-check yung valve clearance eh..ermat ko nagdala ng auto sa mechanic.. pano po ba ginagawa yun? is it as simple as checking/turning some screws o kailangan buksan makina to check/adjust valve clearance?

The EL should be able to take regular 93 octane AFAIK. As the others mentioned, try gassing up at good station (Caltex, Petron, Shell)...

Mura lang magpa-check ng IGNITION timing. Just look for a service station/mechanic with a timing light and make sure he knows what the stock setting of the Lancer is. If it still persists, then you try upping to 95 octane fuel.

TO check valve clearances, they open up the engine but this shouldnt result in detonation/tope really. Valve clearances that are off-spec usually results in more enging clatter, not "tope".

    more power to tsikot.com!

parang tunog taxi ang makina, may kumakatok pag umaarangkada..
