    good day sir / ma'am,

it was yesterday i noted that my warning light stays ON even with the engine running. my manual said that my fuel filter need to be replaced(with warning light steady on).
but never i saw it yet in flashing mode which the manual tells that there's a certain amount of water accumulation in the filter and bleeding the filter system is required.

my odo now clocked at 17,996km. yet the manual said; the fuel filter needs a replacement at 40,000km. confused and so i searched the net and found this one to reset the warning light system. what i did was disconnected the fuel filter's electrical connection while engine ignition at OFF. start the engine then wait for 3 seconds at least before re-connecting the filter's electrical line. now GONE the warning light. though it never came ON atm yet i'm still observing with it.

now i'm wondering what caused the warning light ON such soon. was it a glitch or something,,,?

Light indicates presence of water in the fuel filter. Sometimes, when it lits, it is already too late and may water contamination na nakapasok sa HP pump and Injectors. Anyway, anung gas station and branch location ka usually nagpapakarga?

I usuall change my fuel filter every other change oil or 10-15T kms. After over 12 years and 260T kms of owning a crdi engine car, di ko pa naexperience ang water light. All fuel system parts are still original and never been touched.

I would suggest na palitan mo na filter, mas mahal magastos and time and labor consuming if masira pa injectors or SCV.

you have to remove the water from the fuel filter before doing the reset. if not, the problem may pop up again soon.

i think there is procedure for this in the manual. you do not need to replace the filter right away.

the manual said; The amount of accumulated water in the fuel filter has reached the specific level if the light flashes, the water in the fuel filter needs to be drained if the fuel system warning light flashes and buzzer sounds.
but never i've seen it flashes nor buzzed.
it stays ON instead which the manual states; The fuel filter need to be replaced if the light comes on.

and yes, there's a procedure in the manual how to drain the filter. i will try to drain it then.
    thank you, sir.

Fuel filter cost only about 600-800pesos? Labor 200? Mga 1 week ka muna wag mag starbucks or wag kuna mag pa spa.. LOL. Just kidding.

    SCV cost around 13k.
    Injector is 10k each.
    HP pump???

BTT: Bakit ka magtitipid if alam mong compromised na fuel system mo with water? Isa pa, its already at 18T kms + countless idle times pa so sulit na rin yan sir...

Im surprised sa reaction ng iba, nagkakabit ng OCC, EGR blanking, 2T additives and other fuel additives na di sure kungbepektive pero ung basic na fuel filter change tinitipid?

One more thing, I would stay away sa gas station na pinagkakargahan mo and also will drain the fuel tank if I were you... So mga 1month na wala muna starbucks.. Hehe..

I am not even sure if what they did to your car is related to the check engine light.

IMO, it's not needed. But if you have extra time and money, why not... But, at the end of the day. You are just spending too much for your cars maintenance/operating cost.

Haven't put any injector cleaner or purging since day 1 from 12years of owning it.

Didn't let the warning light turn on.
As my friend's D4D warning light turned on and found out that the fuel filter needs replacing.
Just change it every 20k kms. You're good

kakabili ko lang ng fuel filter for diesel innova...P862.00 to be exact.

actually nasa 23k kms na yung sasakyan. wala pa naman fuel filter warning light (blinking or steady) but i plan to change it next oil change which is at 25k km....

kasi judging from the pic above e mukhang ok pa yung filter at 20k kms. binibili ko lang consumables and parts sa toyota (baguio or la union) then i do the replacement myself.

ang isa pang nakakalito sa service manual ng toyota is "Inspection" lang ang nakalagay sa water sedimentor. walang nakaindicate kung kelan at anong odometer reading dapat palitan ang diesel filter....unlike sa gasoline model na may odo reading.
