January 20th, 2010 03:44 PM #1Good day mga bossing!
Paano mo malalaman na ang alternator is undercharging?
Meron bang aparato or tester na ginagamit ang mga electricians to know if the alternator is undercharging?
Any suggested repair shop ng alternator near Sta. Rosa, Laguna? Or surplus shop na nagbebenta nito within laguna? I've tried to contact Nagano surplus shop pero wala sila binebentang alternators.

at idle no load a least 14.5v
at idle full loads at least 13.5v
at 2500 rpm no load max 14.8 v
yun ang typical readings na sinusunod ko .these can be done by using a digital voltmeter.

January 21st, 2010 03:13 PM #3The best way to check the charging system of a car aside from voltmeter is by using battery/ alternator tester wherein you could monitor the condition of rectifier/diode, IC regulator and charging voltage. Once the trouble is pinpointed, try to source for parts that needs replacement. In my experience, once the stator, rotor is defective, the best way is to replace the whole alternator itself since rewinding these components will not give satisfactory results (insufficient voltage and current). The best equipment I've used so far in diagnosing charging system is Snap On Microvat wherein it will diagnose what component is defective just by plugging the leads on battery terminals.
