I assume your referring the fuel indicator not fuel filter. You may have a problem in the fuel sending unit inside your gas tank. The fuel pump and the fuel sending unit are incorporated into a single unit pero kung ibaba mo ang gas tank mo the sending can be replaced separately. This would account for both the problems as you describe. Good Luck

May 28th, 2008 02:03 AM #3Worst case is that you have water in fuel...when you have your Fuel filter sediment warning light.. possible that you have water or sludge build up in your FUEL filter.. if you notice your fuel filter, there is a plastic attachment at the bottom.. this is the Water/Sediment sensor that will be activated if water or sediment is present.. you should immediately check this and drain the plug ASAP...
also check you electricals for possible short or ground in the indicator
OT: water is heavier than fuels so water will settle at the bottom of the fuel filter and will trigger the Fuel/Sediment indicator

Dont worry those are the Warning Lights. Its very normal to luminate those lights whenever you start the engine, this is what it called "SELF TEST" they are supposed to lights up for few seconds then goes off. If any of those lights didnt go off or intermitently on and off, then there is something wrong on your engine or electrical depends on what sysmbol is on.

July 3rd, 2008 05:41 AM #7usually when the fuel filter light comes on you need to bleed the fuel filter by pumping at the fuel filter pump by either opening a small screw on the side to release air or at the bottom to releae the water.

yup, water accumulation in the fuel filter.
guys, iba ang fuel filter ng diesel from that of your gasoline engine fuel filters. most diesle engine fuel filters will have a sensor (usually float type with magnetic switch) that senses water accumulation at the bottom of the filter. pag madami na yung water tataas yung float activating the magnetic switch. that gives you a warning light telling you that it is time to either drain the water from the fuel filter or even replace the filter. the float switch assembly is located at the bottom of the filter, it is screwed on to the filter.
to drain the filter, there is a valve (similar to the valve for draining the engine radiator) located at the bottom of the float switch assembly. turn it counterclockwise to open. then use the fuel priming pump to expell out the water until such time that only diesel flows out of the valve. make sure that you do not accidentally disconnect the sensor wires when doing this as some engines have a lock out that will prevent the engine from starting if the sensor is disconnected (toyota and mitsu forklift engines have this, i do not know about their car engines though).
it is also adviseable to check your fuel tank for water. if there is too much water then maybe you should consider switching to another gas staton. baka binabaha yung gas station na favorite mo.
Choosing one would depend on your driving and parking conditions. Do you have your own garage =...
