my car won't start

I know so little about cars and their problems, so I hope anyone can help me diagnose my car's problem before I call a mechanic. I own a 2001 honda city type z vti and I got it only less then a year. I started noticing a few days ago na pag stuck ako sa traffic humihina aircon and umiingay makina then pag go na mahina hatak tapos pag direderetso na takbo lumalakas ulit aircon and ok na ulit hatak. Pag pinapatay ko aircon during those times, tumatahimik n ulit makina and malakas na ulit hatak. Then yesterday when I stopped for gasoline, my car won't start anymore. I let it cooled off, ayaw pa rin then isang tulak lang nagstart na ulit. Pa check ko daw radiator or alternator. What is alternator? Can it cause all this problem? I tried starting my car today and click click lang narinig ko so pinatry ko patulak, start naman sya kaagad but of course I can't use my car anymore. Electrician ba kailangan ko patawag? Sorry, I'm trying to learn more....

You can check if the battery terminal clamps are tight and in good contact. If they are loose, just re-tighten the clamps until they are secure. Loose battery terminals can be the source of your problem as the way you described your problem.

1)check the alternator kung gumagana o kaya baka worn out na ang bearing nito kaya may naririnig kang ingay especially kung idle up sa trafic baka hindi na tumatakbo ang bearing mo at kung nag go ulit ng movement natural na lalamig ult aircon mo dahil mappwersa ulit na patakbuhin ng engine mo ang sirang bearing ng alternator

pwede din po sa compesor bearing ang naririnig mo pwde din sya mag cause ng ingay na naririnig mo?

kung ayaw umistart it means nadiskarga battery mo malamang alternator yan,baka bago pa ang fan belt mo kaya di na lalagot kung bearing man ang sira

alternator is the generator of the vehicle. kung baga eh eto ang power supply mo pag umaandar ang sasakyan. this is the one responsible for the charging of your battery. the battery uses energy to drive the starter of the engine. kung walang battery, hindi talaga iistart yan unless jump starting (yung tulak).

yes, possible na alternator din ang sira. pacheck nyo na po yan. hope that carbon brush lang ang problem. if not, possible defective rotor na po yan. pero mam, hindi rin ligtas ang battery dahil possible din na defective na battery nyo. one thing lang po, kung may check engine lights po ba kayo nakikita?

yes, actually kapapalit ko lang ng fan belt. You maybe right, I think it might be the bearing....I'll let them check it. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Sa gas station, they checked by battery and they said mahina na nga rin daw. What about starter? When I start my car, the check engine lights up also but none lights up when I'm driving.

pa check mo muna lahat ng bearing sir then para for sure palinis mo na din ang alternator at starter mo para di ka nangagamba sa road trip

based on your description, i think your alternator is the problem.. one way to check is habang tumatakbo yung engine ng kotse mo, tanggalin mo yung clamp sa isang terminal ng battery mo, yung ground terminal (yung may black/green sa battery).. don't worry di ka makukuryente jan.. make sure lang na wag mong ididikit sa positive terminal ng battery yung tinanggal mong clamp kundi short yun, possible na sumabog battery mo.. kapag namatay yung kotse mo even after ilang minutes, ibig sabihin, alternator ang problem.. since nasabi mo na pinalitan yung belt lately, check yung tightness nung belt.. baka loose lang.. or mas masama, kung sobrang higpit, baka nasira na bearing ng alternator mo.. kapag dirediretso yung takbo, ibig sabihin, battery.. btw.. make sure na ok yung alternator mo.. kasi kung pinalitan mo yung battery without making sure na ok ang alternator mo, diskargado uli yan.. sayang lang ang bagong battery..

I think it's a dead/dying battery.

Sabi mo nag-start pag tinutulak...ibig sabihin, me kuryente (alternator) pag nag-start na. Ayaw mag-start (starter) , ibig sabihin di kaya ng baterya paikutin ang starter.

Advise:

1. Replace with good battery (borrow from family or friend) or buy one.
2. start car
3. one it starts, measure voltage across the battery terminal. It must be ~13-14 volts. If lower, fix the alternator too.
