If you want to save all your preset radio stations, digital clock and sometimes alarm codes, better be ready with a 9volt battery connected to your cigarette lighter. Or have them supply an extra battery while you change for the new one.

What do you mean by timing? Engine timing? That won't be affected unless they do unscrupulous adjustments at the distributor cap area.

I once had an experience with a maintenance free battery, parang medyo nagba-bulge ung side nya kapag luma na. Don't know what's the cause of it pero sabi nung iba electrical daw.
Pero ung frend ko told me the only way to check it is using a tester. Don't know much info about that na!

the voltage of the batery shouldnt drop below 10v....it is normally 12-14v with a volt meter... the bulging is tell-tale sign na nagkokorode na ang plates kaya hindi na ito nagchacharge up ng husto. The only reason that these maintenance free bateries will die would be because water (from inside) escaped/evaporated so nagiba na ang electrolyte balance or the life-time limit of the plates have been met na (charging - recharging will slowly damage it couple it with road vibrations e lalo na).

    my 2 cents.

share ko lang experience ko knina.wen i opened d car using d keyless opener, i just heard a slow clicking sound indicating d door locks were being opened.2 confirm my suspicion, d car didnt start.wen i opened d hood 2 check for any loose terminals, i noticed dat d hydrometer is still color green.all d wile i tot my bat was still ok kac i was relying on d hydrometer.d bat s alredy 2 yrs old btw but i was deceivd by d hydrometer wc i tot still indicated d battery's good health.d hyrometer visual s not dat accurate din peeps. d period u used ur battery pa rin imo is d best gauge for evaluating ur batery's duration. :D

Bring your vehicle to any battery service stations and they have the right tools the the right job. Makikita nila agad pag kulang na sa voltage yung battery then it's time to change.

    coolgal,

back to your first qustion: may alarm ba yung kotse mo? some make/brand kasi of alarms (like viper) requires you to "initialize" the remote controls for it to function properly. when you change the battery, you must press on the remote control buttons (both units) within 30 seconds. i think it has something to do with the "variable" frequency that viper uses. hope this helps

ah, ok. in that case, you will just have to re-set your clock and fm stations' memory

maintenance free (and most other batteries) have a 2 to 3 year lifespan (regardless of size) under regular use. since wala naman winter months sa 'pinas, hindi apektado ng weather ang mga batteries natin.

yung 3 years, swerte ka na sa battery mo nun.

and yung clik-clik sound coolgal ... yun na yun, dead na battery mo nun ... :P

just to share. last week of Aug i noticed na two clicks before mag start auto ko. then last two weeks ago, naulit na naman. ganun din last week. pero check yung battery nag cha-charge naman. hindi din namatay makina nung nag start tapos tinanggal yung connection ng battery.
though i bought a new one last weekend kasi minalas na abutan sa tagaytay nung pauwi na and about to start. kasama pa naman ang mga baby ko. ang nangyari eh natuyuan ng tubig yung bat.
my question sa mga guru, di ba dapat umilaw yung battery warning ko before mangyari yon? is it true na baka daw hindi nag automatic yung charging kaya posible na na over charge yung bat?

battery is more than 2 yrs old na, motolite excel maintenance free.

    appreciate your comments...

    thanks!
