    we bought a 2nd hand 2000 adventure SS matic last month. while stopping sa intersection, bigla na lang namatayan ng engine and humina ang hatak ng engine after. we turned off the AC, went to the nearest mechanic. pinalitan ng battery terminal, fuel filter then spark plugs same problem pa rin(we test drive each time may pinalitan na part). bigla paring namamatay even while running at 40 km/h.

    worse, nung pinalitan yung spark plugs and may inadjust yung mech sa idle yata, the engine reved more, lumakas ang sound, lumakas vibrate ng buong vehicle and pumanget sound from muffler, parang pumupugak. may pumuputok pa minsan na sound from the engine

    btw, mukang bago pa ang battery and kumakarga pa when the mech tested it.
    sabi ng mech baka daw high tension wire ang problem.

    buti na lang nakauwi pa kami from sta.rosa to alabang. di ko nabilang how many times namatayan kami ng engine.

    any suggestions kung ano problem ng advie namin?

    ive also posted on mymitsu pero wala pa rin ngrereply sa thread. hope someone here in tsikot can help me.

    first of all i do specialize in electronic fuel injection , and i can give you a good advice when it comes to this.

    things to be performed by a qualified auto tech:

    scan test for any codes and start from here ( with the aid of techical info)

    if no codes present , do some basic testings :

    fuel pressure test - refer to spec
    spark test - at least 25 kv
    mechanical timing - crankshaft/ camshaft timing marks aligned
    back pressure test ( before cat max 2 psi * 3000 rpm)
    cylinder balance test
    fuel injectors balance test

    to go deeper into this , some specialized equipment is needed like labscope capable to identify intermittent faults

    Puwede nga high-tension wires. Nabasa ko in one of the threads na you can test this by:

    - run the engine
    - remove ht wire one at a time

    Each time you pull out a ht wire, dapat mararamdaman mo yung effect sa makina (will rough idle, or engine will stall). Meaning ok ang ht wire kung may effect sa makina. Then repeat the same process for all ht wires. Kung meron kang binunot na walang effect sa engine run, suspect na yung ht wire na yun.

    Anyway, I suggest dalhin mo na sa Mitsu casa. Magastos nga, pero one-time lang naman, and para sigurado na makita ang problema. Ipa-balik mo na rin ang tuning settings to stock settings.

    thanks for the inputs. anyway, the guy who sold us the vehicle will send a mechanic. kung wala pa rin, suggest ko na sa parents ko na sa reputable shop dalahin or sa casa.

    i knew this would happen eventually. my parents didn't follow any of the rules/tips in buying a second hand car even if suggested some things to do first like test drive sa high way or bringing a mechanic to inspect the car.
    they trusted the seller agad.

    wala pang 150 kms tinatakbo, pumalya na...

    kaya ingat kayo guys sa ngbebenta ng 2nd hand cars malapit sa ATC Muntinlupa.

    mas maganda kung dadalin mo yung car mo sa shop na may scan tool, para ma check yung mga engine sensors especially yung crank and camshaft position sensor sensor and MAF sensor. Crankshaft and camshaft yung sensors na nag dedetect ng spark timing and timing sa injector while pag sira naman yung MAF sensor mararamdaman mo na yung engine walang power, responsible yung MAF sensor sa pag sukat kung gano karaming air ang pumapasok sa engine at sesend sya ng signal sa computer then the computer will adjust the injector pulse depending on the amount of air na nasukat ng MAF sensor, binabalanse ng computer ang air and fuel mixture. possible na may intermmittent sa crankshaft position sensor kaya namatay yung engine.

    yung palag ng engine, pwedeng may prob sa timing, check yung timing belt and timing kung OK. spark plugs, spark plug wires, injector, and ignition coil yan yung possible prob sa engine mo. and also pa check mo na rin yung compression ng each cylinder, baka may singaw yung valves or piston rings kaya walang power at pag may load na namamatay.

    sana nakatulong yung mga pinagsasabi ko.

Matic Adventure, namamatayan ng makina at humihina ang hatak. HELP!
