I'm planning to get a 5" tachometer with shift light for my 2002 Honda Civic...
I actually don't know what it's purpose is and if it is that necesaary in my car pero ang porma kasi ng sasakyan pag may ganun... mukhang racer talaga. How much ba cheapest and saan meron nun? Monster and Autometer are the 2 most populars brands I've checked sa net. Help me out naman. Do i need a tach for my car or should I spend it in something more improtant? Naka-sound setup narin kc ako.. gsto ko lang pagandahin interio ko... Thanks mga masters!!!

You don't need a tach. The stock tach is good enough. A big tach is more for show than anything else. Spend your money elsewhere.

that fact that you don't even know what a tachometer is for....means that you don't really need it (ke merun stock tachometer or not ang oto mo, you wouldn't feel the difference of having one or not).

spend you cash elsewhere.... those tach ran around P2000 to 5000 depending on brand... why not spend that same money for an exterior/interior detailing sa Big Bert's... malamang mas maaapreciate mo pa.

besides having monster tach wouldn't increase the power of your ride... you will only get indisent invites from raceboys' for a race.... that you probably will not win at all (yet).

For regular street driving you don't need it. Unless you want to look like the other posers out there that are all show and no go. Everyone here knows the type the ones with the coffee can exhaust that sound like "syento bente, syento takbo ng tambutso pero bente takbo ng kotse".

If meron na stock ang civic mo, di mo na kailangan pa niyan. Not unles resing resing ka. Wag ka na dumagdag sa mga riceboys.

Akala ko un tread eh importance talaga nun tach, un pala, additional.

Tach would be important sa mga FC consciuos, or sometimes, pag maingat ka sa reving trying to avoid points na tumitigil function ng ilang filters sa oil/gas. Other wouldnt mind. PUJs dont use em.

di kailangan ng tach kung may tach na gauge mo, pwede shift light nalang pero not necessary talaga more on anesthetic lang talaga to, pati ang mahal din pala nito gastusin mo nalang sa performance ng engine mo

actually, a racing tach does have a purpose. it will allow you to set the shift points and rev your engine higher than your stock unit. for everyday drving pwede i set ng mababa ang rev limit pra makatipid sa gas. autometer starts at around 2500 depende sa model. yng monster tach is around 4-5k...if ur not going racing, you can do without it. bilhan mo n lng ng pedals, shift knob and boot, indiglo gauges...tpos headers and air intake filter....suggestion lng po : )

You will only need one if you have done extensive modifications such as increasing the rev limit mechanically (engine mods) and electronically (reprogrammed ECU, etc) and need to visually quantify the engine speed and get a good shift light to boot.

Most of the time when driving on the street you won't need that, but if you take it to the track then yes you will benefit from it if properly done.

Other than that, it becomes too tach...err...tacky

Your stock tach would do. Very usefull yun tach when we're trailing, tells you when your over reving when powering up during steep inclines. A more important meter, for me, is the oil pressure meter.

Hindi naman ganun ka-importante ang tach. Yung EX Sentra S3 ko and 1980 Galant walang tach (kahit napakaraming gauges nung huli, hehehe).

IMO, kung doubly ricey kung may racing tach ka, pero may stock tach na yung car mo, tapos halos wala namang racing mods.

i bought a tach as my sentra lec doesn't come with one. I use it to make sure i shift around 2k rpm to help with fuel economy.

Accessories like this are important to some cars (and people hehe)

If you got the extra moolah and will make you happy then why not. Just try not to get those oversized ones. The ones that come with a shift light can sometimes be distracting.
